State of Massachusetts Program Manager IV in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC) is seeking a dynamic, recovery oriented Shelter Director to oversee and manage the day to day operations of the Fenwood Inn (a 40 bed coed state operated shelter) including staffing, facility management and operational needs.

As a member of the MMHC senior leadership team, the Director of the Fenwood Inn will work to further the Center's transdisciplinary vision that promotes and maintains the delivery of high quality integrated services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversight and management of all shelter operations (staffing, services and facilities) ensuring a safe environment for staff and guests. .

  • Staff scheduling.

  • Working with other components of the service continuum, including state operated and acute care facilities, HOT, other shelters and community providers to ensure coordinated and timely transitions as well as access to ongoing care.

  • Monitoring and modifying shelter programming so as to support rehabilitation goals of the guests.

  • Supervising all shelter staff.

  • Identifying service gaps and facilitating programmatic change through participation in Center, Area and DMH initiatives

  • Representing MMHC at various Area and state-wide meetings.

  • Ensuring adherence to Federal, State, DMH and MMHC laws, policies, and procedures.

  • Works closely with other members of the MMHC executive management team to provide organizational, administrative, and clinical leadership to the center.

  • Assists with contract monitoring activities.

  • Preferred Qualifications:*Given the population served, Bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Experience in Shelter operations.

Familiarity with the network of homeless services in the Metro Boston Area.

Knowledge of the DMH network of services.

Hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm (may require some nights and weekends)

Days off: Saturday and Sunday

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

II. An Associate’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

III. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.

IV. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.

V. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
