Citizens Operational Senior Manager-Risk Methodology in Boston, Massachusetts

The Operational Risk Management (ORM) Methodology Team is seeking an Operational Senior Manager who will be responsible for assisting and supporting the planning, execution, and ongoing review of the Operational Risk Management Methodology Frameworks to include Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), and Risk and Control Assessment. Assist with the implementation of program policies, Key Risk Metrics, standards, and procedures. Work closely with Front Line Units to drive implementation and ongoing improvement of Key Operational Risk Programs. The Senior Manager will be responsible for the oversight of the RCSA and Controls Assessment Framework and will be a strategic partner to the Operational Risk Management leadership team, Front Line and Second line, and other stakeholders. In this role, the Senior Manager upholds and maintains the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Controls Assessment enterprise-wide requirements, plans, executes and reports on the programs.

Primary responsibilities include

  • Establishes and maintains the requirements for enterprise-level RCSA and controls testing programs.

  • Supports a vision of shared success between the first, second and third line in support of the RCSA and Controls Assurance objectives. Champions change through a structured implementation approach using standardized tools and methodologies as prescribed by the Methodology and Frameworks. Communicates with one voice for Operational Risk Management and is responsible for developing and delivering the change drivers and adoption communications, training, workshops, and feedback mechanisms.

  • Serves as an advisor on RCSA and controls testing industry best practices, processes, and regulatory requirements. Manages program education and training through partnership with business units. Directs presentations, workshops, and other trainings, as necessary.

  • Ensure complete adoption of the RCSA and Control Assessment program within businesses line and Front-Line Unit in accordance with Risk Framework and Methodology., the timely and quality completion of RCSA and control assessment activities by process and control owners, including oversight of timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.

  • Produce and assess RCSA and Control Assessment quality Risk Appetite and Key Risk Metrics and Share report results across businesses and functions, prior to aggregation and executive reporting. Assist with Enterprise Risk Appetite Metric and Executive Risk Reporting in GRC, providing commentary around limit breaches. Manage the documentation of key risk metrics and conduct research an analysis on metrics that exceeded threshold/limits in order to provide meaningful analysis and conclusions to executive leadership through reporting. Explore opportunities for ongoing enhancements and automation of Key Risk Indicators and reporting.

  • Embed a strong risk assessment and governance approach around delivery of new and existing products, services and activities and services as well as significant organizational, product, systems, and process changes.

  • Act as a trusted advisor and central point of contact across the three lines of defense as well as internally and external stakeholders.

  • Drive communication, solutioning, and process and methodology enhancements through Working Session and Risk Forums at all levels of the organization. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Manage, support and assists with both internal and external exams. Works closely with regulatory agencies and assist with regulatory exams. Ensure appropriate exam outcomes through exam management protocols.

  • Partner with the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC tool) team to update and maintain Risk Framework Modules with GRC to support ongoing processes enhancements and methodology updates. Support Front Line Unit requests related to GRC.

  • Maintain knowledge of new or emerging risk management methodologies through professional networking and participating in industry forums.

Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years of relevant experience within the Banking Industry, Risk Consulting, Financial Services, compliance, Front Line Risk, Internal Audit, and/or Regulatory Agency

  • Operational Risk Management experience.

  • Experience with Risk management Frameworks to include Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RSCA), Issues Management, and Control Assessment.

  • Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to Enterprise and Operational Risk.

  • Familiarity with Governance Risk and Control (GRC) tools (Archer preferred).

  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word Visio, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical capabilities to provide data-centric insights.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience producing high-quality materials for management consumption.

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Business, Risk Management, Finance, Economics or equivalent field or equivalent work experience.

  • License or Certification: preferred by not required

Hours & Work Schedule; 3 days in the office, 2 working from home

  • Hours per Week: 40

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
