Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
The Media Relations team supports external communications plans that promote the company, corporate initiatives and products and services, while at the same time protecting the company's reputation. The Media Relations team supports the businesses and functions by creating and implementing communications plans that primarily target reporters. A Media Relations Director will partner directly with business leaders and subject matter experts to develop and execute proactive public relations plans with minimal oversight and have frequent and direct contact with the media.
What Will You Do?
Write, edit and proofread communications to support initiatives for assigned media relations projects.
Oversee media relations projects from team members and provide feedback.
Partner with various stakeholders to establish objectives and coordinate content development to meet defined business objectives.
Counsel leadership on media relations approaches and develop thoughtful and creative campaigns using a variety of media relations tactics for maximum effectiveness.
Manage multiple requests comfortably and with flexibility in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment – meeting all deadlines. Ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach.
Manage communications delivery for assigned external audiences, partnering with communications team, and use creative solutions beyond traditional media relations for maximum effectiveness and reach of external communications.
Strong ability to identify target external audiences and media outlets, and interact with reporters from national, trade and local news media.
Guide others in the use of media relations best practices and brand guidelines in the development of communications materials.
Measure and analyze the effectiveness of media relations placements through quantitative and qualitative methods.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
Seven years of experience in PR/communications or agency in related field.
Two years of direct or indirect experience managing people with the ability to coach others to deliver projects.
Proven writer with strong editing skills and attention to detail.
Experience writing communications for technology.
Deep understanding of contemporary communications techniques and appropriate media relations methods and techniques for communicating with multiple audiences with the knowledge of when to apply them externally.
Thorough understanding of business strategies.
Ability to build productive working relationships across functional areas and communicate and influence across all levels of the organization.
Ability to build relationships with media.
Advanced project management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, within tight timeframes.
Ability to think strategically to align media relations efforts with broader organizational goals and objectives.
Ability to identify emerging issues in the organization, and external issues that could affect the company’s reputation.
What is a Must Have?
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, PR, communications or writing.
Seven years of related communications experience.
Two years of people-management experience.
