Job Description:
CDM Smith is seeking a DevOps Cloud Architect to join our Digital Engineering Solutions team. This individual will be part of the Development group within the Digital Engineering Solutions team, helping design and implementation of cloud-based solutions facilitates CI/CD practices, utilizing infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and ensuring that software development and operations teams work collaboratively. This individual must showcase exceptional abilities in implementing cloud technology solutions for AEC initiatives that involve cutting-edge technologies.
As a member of the Digital Engineering Solutions team, the Development group will also engage in research and development and provide guidance and oversight to the AEC practices at CDM Smith, engaging in new product research, testing, and the incubation of innovative ideas that arise from around the company. The ideal candidate should possess an extensive background in cloud architecture, that includes security, scaling, integration, and application migration, along with a commitment to continuous advancement and interest that drives measurable results.
The following are the Key responsibilities for this position
• Possessing a solid understanding of cloud technologies, including architecture design, planning, configuring, and resource management in Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms.
• Establish standards and guidelines across cloud platforms in accordance with industry standards.
• Incorporate security best practices into cloud architecture and ensure compliance with appropriate industry standards.
• Engage in multidisciplinary research on complex systems including serverless, endpoints, networks, and hardware/software.
• Develop and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems that ensure the performance and health of the system.
• Collaborates with stakeholders, program group leaders and development lead to analyze their cloud initiatives and offer cost-effective system specifications that comply with the standards.
• Collaborate closely with the IT operations, and security teams to ensure that best practices are followed.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with non-technical cross-functional teams.
• Analyze the cloud service's business needs, investigate the necessary framework, design and implement enterprise-class cloud service providing secure, scalable, and efficient solutions.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with non-technical cross-functional teams.
• Establish standards by managing infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Implement cost-saving measures and analyze resource utilization to optimize cloud costs.
• Design, build and implement a disaster recovery management system that aligns with the project's requirements and industry standards.
• Ensure the Azure environment is maintained and supported, which includes providing user access, troubleshooting, governance, and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert AZ-304/AZ-500
• Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Engineering or a related specialization preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient in Microsoft Azure, with a strong foundation in solution architecture and a comprehensive understanding of other cloud service providers.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure services for horizontal scaling and high availability system design, planning, and implementation
• Experience in Azure networking services, including content delivery, load balancing, network security and cloud-native microservices architecture.
• Proficient in critical thinking, accurate analysis, and effective decision-making.
• Working experience in the dynamic deployment of Azure resources in landing zones using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Git and version control systems, as well as the ability to configure CICD pipelines using Azure DevOps using Infrastructure as code.
• Proficient in the development and management of data lakes and data bricks within a sharable environment.
• Have a solid understanding of data residency, data isolation, and data retention policies.
• Excellent written, verbal, and diagrammatic communication skills.
• Proficient with Azure Active Directory B2C & B2B, multi-factor authentication protocol, federated identity, enterprise-level security services, and implementing Identity Access Management standards using OAuth2 & SAML.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity and networking, as well as automated security tools such as intrusion detection and prevention and vulnerability scanning.
• Experience in Container Orchestration.
• Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools and familiarity with programming languages like Python, Azure PowerShell, Bash scripts, and Hashi Corp tools.
• Expert knowledge of creating disaster recovery strategies using industry standards and requirements for the project.
