Summary

Works with a team of support specialists within both Legal Support Services and Accounting teams to provide effective, streamlined billing and client account services to billing attorneys of the firm. Edits, proofreads, finalizes, and submits invoices to clients on a monthly billing cycle. Obtains and maintains billing attorney and client billing guidelines. Works as part of a team to provide a cohesive, full-cycle billing support solution for both direct and indirect assignments. Preforms all duties assigned for less complex U.S. and global clients, including proficiency with electronic billing and systems.

Responsibilities

  • US Clients

  • Performs a variety of duties to support the full billing cycle to include reviewing and editing prebills, seeking requisite approvals for deferrals, write-offs and time transfers.

  • Fields billing inquiries.

  • Gathers and submits accrual information based on client requirements.

  • Submits electronic bills based on client requirements and within SLA protocol. Researches and resolves electronic billing rejections. Initiates troubleshooting support and escalations.

  • Maintains an accurate description of all client billing requirements which may also include guidelines established by the client’s general counsel. Updates and tracks changes to the requirements as necessary.

  • Prior to finalization, reviews client invoices for guideline adherence. Gathers disbursement backup and ensures client requirements are met.

  • Finalizes invoices and submits directly to the client (per policy) or provides to attorneys for transmission to the client (per approved exceptions to policy). Includes other billing information as needed.

  • Tracks and resolves tickets assigned by the Accounting Service Desk on a daily basis. Meets SLAs.

  • Manages workflow through developing and utilizing best practices, prioritizing work duties effectively, and making practical use of all resources available to complete work.

  • Makes practical use of all resources available to complete work within SLAs. Seeks assistance from manager for development opportunities and escalation protocols.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Global Clients

  • Manages straightforward, less complex, global client account assignments.

  • Liaises with internal support teams to develop learning and experience for taking on more complex global client assignments.

  • Tracks and resolves tickets assigned by the Accounting Service Desk on a daily basis.

Desired Skills

Billing experience in an international or global organization preferred. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel and accounting systems such as Aderant and/or Elite. Requires proficiency in e-billing applications such as Bill Blast or e-Billing Hub. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with billing timekeepers and business professionals. Must be team-oriented and have ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Must be an accurate proofreader and have strong attention to detail. Has ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Actively listens to positive and critical feedback. Able to adapt to client needs. Eager to develop and achieve scope and requirements for advanced roles and responsibilities.

Minimum Education

  • High School or GED

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Accounting, Finance or similar field

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 3 Years of direct billing or client account work for a law or professional services organization

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The expected annual pay range for this position, if hired to work in New York City is $68,131 - $98,795 per year. If hired to work in San Francisco, or Palo Alto, the expected annual pay range is $71,093 - $103,090 per year. If hired to work in Seattle, Los Angeles, Seattle, or Washington DC, the expected annual pay range is $65,168 - $ 94,499 per year. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
