Conceptualizing, designing and developing new medical devices and technologies including surgical and catheter devices, 3D modeling and simulation techniques in collaboration with the team
Designing and conducting benchtop experiments to complement and/or refine designs and validating computational modeling studies as part of the development process
Working with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses to obtain patient information, understand clinical needs, refine the design and apply the new technologies
Collaborating with lab staff, clinicians, and statisticians to design experiments and write protocols
Performing statistical analysis of experimental results
Preparing oral and written reports for presentation locally and at technical conferences and for publication in scholarly journals
Documenting inventions
Researching and assisting with preparation of intellectual property filings
To qualify, you must have:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Master's degree preferred
Expertise in mechanical design and computer modeling and design software
Experience prototyping, development of benchtop models and device testing and validation with 3D printing experience a plus
Basic knowledge of the mechanics of soft tissues
Programming proficiency in one or more scientific computing languages
The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with both medical and engineering personnel
The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies
