Phillips 66 Analyzer Craft Team Lead, Borger Refinery in Borger, Texas

The Analyzer Craft Team Lead works under the direction of the Instrument/Electrical Superintendent with the primary responsibility to manage and optimize work execution for the instrument/analyzer craft. Responsibilities also include optimizing the refinery analyzer maintenance expenses and tasks in a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible manner while adhering to all governmental regulations and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Actively manage the safety of his/her department and assure that craftsmen are in compliance with all applicable governmental regulations and company policies and procedures

  • Provide supervisory support for the implementation of improvement projects and safe work practices

  • Plan and provide for employee development and training to assure compliance and improve craft/leadership skill levels and performance

  • Primary Owner/Operator of plant wide analyzer installations

  • Support turnaround planning and execution

  • Utilize craft personnel to optimize refinery reliability and keep costs within established budgets

  • Consult with Technical Services and Reliability to ensure that maintenance work meets the requirements of codes, policies, and standards

  • Proactively identify equipment reliability issues and work with reliability engineering to optimize the reliability and performance of all analyzer installations

  • Keep abreast of changes and improvements in analytical technology and the capabilities of outside contractors

  • Establish analyzer inspection intervals and techniques. Monitor inspection activities and highlight any nonconformance with planned intervals

  • Monitor key instrument performance metrics and work to drive improvement in repair techniques, preventative maintenance practices, and overall performance of instrumentation and analyzer installations

  • Schedule compliance metrics

  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection and repair histories for instrumentation and analyzers

  • Strive for all regulatory analyzer installations to be on line greater than 95%

  • Assist, as needed, in the execution and planning of cavern MIT testing and management of custody meter proving program

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must maintain valid driver's license

  • 2 or more years of direct experience in instrument field, focused on analyzer system maintenance and/or reliability

  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:

  • Travel up to 5% of the time

  • Occasional on-call duties

  • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Transport articles up to 50 pounds

  • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines

  • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet in height

  • Work around chemicals, including acids and bases

  • Work around hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat

  • Work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, and ear and eye protection)

  • Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree

  • Proficient (perform the skill with limited assistance) with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Familiarity with the SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module

  • Ability to troubleshoot analyzer installations and problem solve to provide timely resolution to problems

  • Well developed interpersonal communication skills with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to develop conceptual thinking to the point of practical applications, and a demonstrated ability to implement these applications in the field

The Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
