Memory Care Certified Activity Aide
STARTING RATE: $17.50
SHIFT: Full-Time, Day/Evening e/o weekend
JOB SUMMARY:
The Memory Care Certified Activity Aide works directly with Activities Director to implement and facilitate engaging activities specifically designed for individuals with dementia and memory impairments in a memory care facility, focusing on maintaining cognitive function, social interaction, and overall well-being by utilizing specialized techniques and approaches while adhering to established care plans and safety protocols.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in development and conducting activity programming for memory care unit in collaboration with Activities Director.Assist with resident care as required.Ensure activity attendance records are maintained.Ensure programming equipment is in good repair and stored in safe location.Attend QOL for Memory Care patients.Assist in the selection of safe and adequate space, setting, equipment and supplies for activities programs that are person centered and culturally diverse. Transports residents per care plan to activity, event meals and visitations.Is available for scheduled weekend and evening activities at a minimum of two times per month.Carries out group/individual activities programs independently; including set up and clean-up of activity.Possesses knowledge of a variety of leisure time activities and is able to teach these to the residents.Engages resident in therapeutic task groups specialized for resident with dementia related diseases.Understands and has knowledge of residents’ diet restrictions and adaptive equipment needs.Assists with cleaning and preparing the dining room for meals as needed.Provides redirection to residents who are attempting to self-ambulate. Alert appropriate staff as necessary.Assists with any necessary transportation of patient/residents via Geri/wheelchair to and from programs. Provides guidance/direction of ambulatory patients/residents when necessary.Assist with data related to daily individual attendance records for patients/residents.Assists in the development of monthly activities schedule based upon individual and group needs, interests and capabilities.Participates in facility CQI meetings as directed by the Activities Director

Provides direction to visitors, staff, volunteers and external populations.Ability to lead a team and delegate tasks professionally, brings concerns promptly to Supervisor or designee, assists in welcoming and integrating new staff into facilities.Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.Comes to work in neat, clean attire and consistently presents an appropriate professional appearance.
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:Minimum: High School diploma Preferred: Associate degree EXPERIENCE:Minimum:Preferred: 6 months experience as a Activities Aide working with dementia population
