Plastic Injection Molding
Classification: Tooling Manager
Department: Tool Shop
Job Summary:
Position is responsible for overall operations of the tool shop, tool and die making for plastic injection molded parts and various processing tasks.
Essential Tasks Performed
Safely and efficiently operate and maintain and repair
precision tools, dies and other complex pieces used in machinery and production equipment.
- Use and maintain precise measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, hand and power tools.
- Maintain and repair damaged or worn-out injection mold tools used in production.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform regular and preventative maintenance on machine tools (used in wire part production) to ensure optimal performance.
- Design and create detailed Autodesk software drawings.
- Set priorities and coordinate workflow, training technician as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with customers, engineers, managers, co-workers, and outside vendors.
- Assist Production with troubleshooting tooling problems.
- Ordering shop supplies, repair parts and stock items as needed.
Essential Competencies
Read and interpret technical blueprints, 2D drawings and sketches to gain a comprehensive understanding of required parts.
Operate and maintain machines including but not limited to lathes, milling machines, grinders, vertical saws.
Understanding of safe equipment operation.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift a maximum of 40lbs and withstand potential repetitive motions.
Walking, standing, and bending. Physical dexterity and ability to perform manual tasks.
