The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Program Specialist in Revenue Operations at our office in Boise, Idaho.

The Tax Commission Revenue Operations division has a Program Specialist opening in the Initial Data Operations’ Refund unit. To be qualified, candidates will need to be comfortable working within an office environment performing a wide range of tasks, such as: entering, retrieving, and updating data using a computerized records system, performing a review of work items, processing complex refunds related to a variety of tax types including phone, email, and letter correspondence with taxpayers and their representatives. A qualified candidate will be comfortable mentoring and training individuals and groups of people. Candidates must be able to follow verbal and written procedures ensuring accuracy and compliance with rules, regulations, and/or policies. Responsibilities:

  • May hire, train, and supervise direct staff and evaluates their performance

  • Serve as resident expert and provide complex consultative and technical services regarding compliance with tax laws, policies, and procedures

  • Interpret tax laws, rules, and policies to provide taxpayer assistance and answer inquires

  • Review financial records, tax documents and accounts for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies and procedures

  • Perform an in-depth review of work items for accuracy from a variety of tax types.

  • Develop and maintain procedural information pertaining to Central Processing processes

  • Compile and analyze information from within GenTax and other sources, and provide written reports

  • Make independent decisions using problem solving and critical thinking skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of management practices (at least 1 upper-division college level course OR approximately 60 hours of management training that included the all the essential elements of management OR complations of the state/BSU sponsored Supervisory Academy OR at least 6 months of experience performing all the essential elements of management)

  • Some knowledge of program or project planning and implementation (At least 6 months of work experience that involved program or project planning and implementing)

  • At least 6 months of experience developing and evaluating policies and procedures, field memorandums, directives or post orders
