Welcome! We at Micron are seeking a Principal Engineer - Technology Development Equipment (Opex) to join our team in Boise, ID, UAS. As a Technology Development (TD) Operational Expense (Opex) Principal Engineer, you are responsible for developing ideas and executing projects related to Opex for TD Equipment, Spares, and Materials.
You will be in an Individual Contributor (IC) role with no direct reports; however, as a strong technical expert, you will play a key role in understanding costs incurred during operations of first of a kind (FOAK) equipment used in TD, Pareto out those costs, work with engineering and procurement teams to come up with innovative ideas on reducing those costs, and executing projects that come out of those ideas to completion and meeting TD’s business requirements.
Responsibilities
Develop area and workstation spending Pareto to help identify key opportunities
Participate and lead discussions with workstation owners and initiate new and innovative cost savings projects, troubleshoot existing solutions, prioritize and deploy new solutions
Work with the procurement team to identify, develop and define ideas and med-long term strategy
Ensure accuracy of projected savings from each project
Understand semiconductor manufacturing and how potential cost reduction projects could impact overall yield, output and quality
Assess cost reduction efforts and applicability to TD FOAK workstations; must be proactive in assessing projects; stay current with area-specific business practices at each site.
Promote a cost-conscious culture
Effectively plan for any shift in spend when required capacity and product mix adjustments occur and communicate with finance and area IE teams for budgeting purposes
Reporting and Communication
Understand budget by areas within TD and help guide finance and IE teams
Update weekly reporting with respect to area projects, new developments, etc.
Communicate regularly with all goal stakeholders on the status of Opex metrics
Ensure to keep track of new projects created at other sites that could be potential projects for TD
Work with site finance and IE teams for the month end cost measurement review meeting
Drive and motivate the areas towards the goals and targets that are set in order to move the TD site towards financial success.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
Demonstrated ability in data analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making
Self-motivated, dependable, organized and able to work with minimal supervision
Proven ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks concurrently and see them to conclusion on a given timeline
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to present technical data to small and large groups
Proven ability to solicit feedback, accept input, and analyze success and failure
Proven ability to develop high level of credibility and forge solid professional relationships with all levels within the organization
Excellent ability to work with multiple stakeholders to achieve program objectives
Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and timelines
Ability to flex working/communication style, and adapt by leader/team, to enhance collaboration
