Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Human Resources Specialist or Senior to join our Human Resources team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
What does a Human Resources Specialist – Payroll and Benefits do for us?
A Human Resources Specialist on our payroll and benefits team, is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, while also assisting in the administration of company benefits programs. This role is a primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll and benefits questions and concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees.
Assist in the administration of company benefits programs, including enrollment and processing of qualifying life event changes.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax filings and withholdings for city, state, and local taxes, in compliance with relevant regulations.
Manage vendor payment processing and assist with data management.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
Payroll systems and software, preferably Workday
Benefits administration platforms
Federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Employee benefits programs and qualifying life events
Skills in:
Data analysis and ability to identify potential discrepancies
Problem-solving
Excellent Customer Service
Time management to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
Technical proficiency with HRIS and relevant software, preferably Workday
Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Ability to:
Handle sensitive employee information with the utmost confidentiality
Demonstrate follow-through on customer inquiries regarding HR programs, policies, and processes
Work collaboratively with HR team members and other departments
Recognize complex or unusual matters that require additional guidance and escalates as necessary, e.g., policy interpretation
Senior level adds:
Work independently under specified objectives
Closer supervision is provided for complex assignments, precedent-setting actions, and actions that affect other functional areas
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
HR Specialist:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree
Experience:
- 2 years of related human resource experience or combination of related education and experience
Preferred:
- 2 years of payroll and/or benefits specific experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
Senior HR Specialist:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
Experience:
- 5 years of related human resource experience or a combination of education and experience that includes a minimum of 2 years direct HR experience
Preferred:
- 2-5 years of payroll and/or benefits specific experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
