Job Summary and Description:
The Facilities Mechanical Systems Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for providing specifications, standards and working in a team environment with other engineering disciplines to provide quality assurance oversight of control system designs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safety & Quality:
Completes all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies
Stops work for safety if unsafe conditions and/or behaviors are identified
Utilizes and reviews job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performed
Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations including PPE, CoHE (lockout /tagout) and chemical safety
Follows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with stakeholders
Actively participates in the EHS program by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problems immediately (maximum 24 hours)
Performs and facilitates audits and submits good catches
Always wears appropriate PPE, per JHA, supervisor, EHS professionals, and/or job designation
Proactively identifies opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environment
Uses proper lifting techniques and works in an ergonomically correct manner
Follows proper change management practices to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
Leads quality improvement initiatives in their area of expertise to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and drive cost savings
Reviews designs as assigned to ensure they are within manufacturer’s and company guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
Owns content of construction specifications, design standards and design checklists that ensure quality, efficiency and safe work
Ensures specifications, standard and checklists are aligned with corporate guidelines
Leads system troubleshooting efforts when requested
Leads lessons learned type activities per area of expertise
Communication & Collaboration:
Ensures appropriate communication with facilities and manufacturing stakeholders
Partners with key stakeholders to develop solutions to continuously improve critical metrics
Partners with stakeholders to resolve equipment/process issues
Collaborates with areas leaders to create personal performance and development goals
Communicates proactively with leaders and stakeholders on the daily priorities and issues
Attends and participates in meetings and provides relevant technical input
Partners with area leaders and stakeholders to gather input for area improvement
Communicates changes made to equipment and follows business rules for change control
Partners in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementation
Proactively communicates issues that could cause Fab impact, defects, tool restrictions, or lost moves
Coordinates with stakeholders and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updates
Broadens cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignments
Listens to customer feedback, recognizes opportunities and provides feedback for technical innovation
Uses questioning skills to better understand customer needs
Interprets customer needs to identify potential opportunities
Communicates highly complex information to internal and external contacts
Exchanges complex information with colleagues and managers
Provides advice and guidance to less experienced team members
Provides feedback to internal and external management regarding the Quality of Work being performed
Collaborates with other engineers to drive improvement in their quality of work
Project Management/Planning:
Utilizes a systematic project management methodology to develop, prioritize and manage projects
Manages projects to ensure deliverables are completed within the required scope, schedule and budget
Tracks actions and provides escalation path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time
Defines and leads complex, multi-disciplinary projects of critical importance to Micron
Collaborates with stakeholders on the design and coordination of projects
Prepares project scope and ensures necessary input from appropriate stakeholders
Ensures that scope meets requester needs
Collaborates with consultant resources
Coordinates and leads meetings and initiates follow-up actions
Provides support for the design and specifications for new facilities infrastructure
Provides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
Reviews design packages
Executes designs according to standard process
Follows change management procedures
Works with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections
Supports equipment startup and commissioning as requested
Helps to shape strategic decisions and provides technical support
Technical/Data Analysis:
Analyzes systems data to make critical decisions, improve performance, gain efficiency, and drive cost savings
Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
Provides troubleshooting support for complex problems and addresses root cause
Performs problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies
Supports risk and/or failure mode and effects analysis
Eliminates single points of failure and mitigates risk
Provides consultation and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing and other department/sites
Provides engineering support to ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Identifies and develops a strategy for equipment/processes that streamlines PM frequencies and effectiveness
Partners with key stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities for equipment/process efficiencies
Works with Manufacturing on excursion root cause identification, elimination, and prevention
Leads or supports corporate requests and assignments
Leads or supports benchmark activities on operational, procedural, engineering, facilities systems
Maintains applicable discipline knowledge
Supports a culture of TPM
Applies standard engineering principles and practices
Utilizes administrative and engineering databases as necessary in support of job tracking, engineering data, capital equipment facilitation, and critical system loads and capacities
Performs research and development on emerging technologies
Incorporates safety controls in every aspect of the design, enhancement, and modification process
Provides technical training and guidance to Micron and contracted engineers
Provides technical planning and Basis of Design creation for large scale projects
Provides construction QA support for projects
Provides global technical support as Corporate Facilities point of contact for the Boise site
Evaluates tool install and system design cost reduction opportunities
Leads in supplier quality and qualification initiatives
Leads in resolution of Facilities E&C technical issues
Provides technical support for Technology Transfer to other sites
Leads in code analysis
Qualifications:
Excellent multi-tasking, time-management, organization and prioritization skills

Education and Experience:
Required: Relevant degree; Engineering
Preferred: Five or more years of experience
