McDermott Civil Engineer in Boden, Sweden

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Field Civil Engineer to provide on-site support, collaborating closely with the construction team and senior engineers to ensure project success.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to Construction & Completions teams

  • Communicate with Senior Engineer daily to prioritize tasks and address issues

  • Collaborate with the client’s team to resolve technical problems

  • Review project specifications, construction schedules, and drawings

  • Document and resolve technical issues to ensure traceability and closure

  • Understand project scope, handover requirements, and system interfaces

  • Prepare reports for the Senior Engineer/Technical Services Manager

  • Anticipate and proactively address potential issues

  • Conduct daily briefings and technical meetings

  • Review and respond to Site Technical Queries (STQs) and various forms of instructions (FI/SI/CCN/COW/RLMU)

  • Generate and submit relevant documentation (e.g., FMRs, CCNs)

  • Ensure compliance with project standards in all deliverables

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to facilitate material deliveries and task execution

  • Maintain awareness of technical bulletins and concession requests

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Demonstrate adherence to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering

  • 3-8 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, predominantly performing detail design

  • Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society as applicable

  • Eager to learn

  • Working knowledge of English, both oral and written

  • HSE, TQM, and cost-conscious

  • Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regard to:

  • The reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards

  • The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays.

  • The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible/desirable

  • The managing/learning of future current working methods and software applications

  • Accredited engineering degree as may be required by specific regions

  • Familiar with the use of codes and standards

  • Familiar with the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable. Knowledge of many basic design techniques and analysis methods
