JOB SUMMARY:

Our manufacturing company needs a Product Engineer to assist in the design and development of new products. The right candidate will have strong experience in computer aided design, knowledge of tooling manufacturing, and high attention to detail. You will be responsible for managing product information and coordinating cross-functionally to ensure successful new product launches. The Product Engineer will be a steward to technical knowledge at Tellus and contribute to growth across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

· Serve as the technical expert of molded fiber and thermoformed plastic products in the food service and packaging industries, focusing on consumer goods and food.

· Use CAD software to create products, maintain tooling documentation, and communicate ideas to others.

· Convert market feedback into executable product design details and features.

· Optimize product designs for customer uses and manufacturing processes.

· Create 2D drawings and 3D models of products for review and approval.

· Provide technical product information to finance team for quoting and analysis.

· Test product prototypes to remove design flaws, verify product quality, and test fit for use.

· Coordinate with the product development team to finalize product concepts.

· Work collaboratively and communicate as needed with other departments to accomplish company-wide development goals (e.g. Operations, Finance, Maintenance, and Tooling Engineering).

· Maintain good records of product development using Microsoft Office and SAP.

· Coordinate with vendors and partners on delivery schedules and qualification documentation of new tooling.

· Provide problem solving expertise by identifying root causes for problem areas and recommending solutions.

· Manage prototype inventory and coordinate shipping of samples to various stakeholders

· Provide molded fiber industry expertise internally / externally and build awareness of technology and products in the market

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, or similar type of Engineering. Will consider 5+ years of similar work experience in lieu of a completed degree program.

· 2-3 years working experience in Solidworks or similar computer aided design software

· Experience designing and launching new products to market.

· Experience with CNC machinery is a plus

· Knowledge paper manufacturing and TAPPI test methods is a plus

· Mechanical aptitude and good math skills

· Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings

· A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach

· Good communication abilities

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Physically able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to: sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, lifting, reaching and pulling.

· Must be able to occasionally lift 25 to 50 pounds
