SCHEDULE

Schedule/Hours will vary to include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Maximum 25 hours per week.

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

Performs responsible work greeting visitors to the city and district parks. Work is performed under general supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Take cash payments from park visitors.

  • Greets all vehicles entering park site.

  • Checks all vehicles for appropriate permits.

  • Maintain vehicle, attendance, and other records.

  • Give directions to park visitors.

  • Balance cash register.

  • Pass out brochures, surveys, and other park and recreation public relation materials.

RELATED TASKS:

  • Maintain radio contact with Park Rangers for emergencies.

  • Operates Vox radio frequency communication equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of handling money, balancing cash register, and use of adding machine.

Ability to interact with the public and associates and maintain effective working relationships with same.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; and

  • Six (6) months of experience dealing with the general public and handling cash.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Exposure to extreme temperatures and animals/insects.

CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARY

Part-Time Employees

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year

PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.

MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
