Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director of The John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government - Boca Raton, FL.
The School of Public Administration in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is searching for a Director of The John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government at FAU. Established in 1981, the mission of The John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government’s Executive Office in Tallahassee and its affiliate offices is to provide high-quality training and technical assistance services to state and local governments throughout the state. The Institute’s service area includes Monroe, Broward, Miami Dade, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. The Institute has provided approximately 500 training programs and technical assistance projects to over 8,000 public sector employees on an annual basis for 40 years. The Director assumes overall responsibility for the management, direction, and fiscal accountability of the IOG program at FAU.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with state and local government organizations, IOG constituents, University staff and faculty.
Provide training programs and conference services for various professional associations.
Administering a wide variety of on-site and open enrollment training and technical assistance programs for state and local governments. Supervises other Institute support staff.
Fiscal management of the Institute’s training and technical assistance programs.
Coordinating the four levels of the 142-hour code enforcement certification training and exam administration for the Florida Association of Code Enforcement. The IOG offers ten to twelve weeks of certification and recertification training on an annual basis throughout the south Florida region.
Administering the IOG grant award which establishes the Institute’s annual work plan and submitting to the Executive office the mid-year and final training report.
Identifying funding opportunities and generating sufficient revenue to support staff salaries and related office expenses. Other than the annual grant from the Executive Office, the Institute receives no direct funding from FAU. The IOG sustains itself through revenue derived from training and technical assistance programs.
Cultivating long term relationships with state and local governments stakeholders to assess current professional development needs and develop programs to meet emerging workforce needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration or related degree and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration or related degree and eight years of appropriate experience required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Master's degree (preferred) in Public Administration, Public Affairs or Political Science from an accredited institution and six years of relevant leadership and management experience or a bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Political Science from an accredited institution and eight years of relevant leadership and management experience.
Candidate should possess strong organizational skills related to project planning, development and administration.
The candidate must have the ability to travel the IOG service area to meet the needs of the IOG’s local and state governments.
We are looking for a leader who is a self-starter with a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial approach to the job.
