FirstService Residential Assistant Director of Engineering in Boca Raton, Florida

As an Assistant Director of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient operation of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, and painting. Your expertise will ensure the maintenance and functionality of the building's infrastructure, providing a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

Your Responsibilities:

Â

  • Demonstrate expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems, including but not limited to cooling towers, RTUs (Roof-Top Units), boilers, domestic water pumps, etc.
  • Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of air conditioning systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on A/C units to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components and systems.
  • Conduct electrical inspections and implement necessary upgrades or replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Address issues related to leaks, clogs, and other plumbing concerns.
  • Undertake painting tasks for both interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Ensure proper surface preparation and paint application techniques.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components, A/C units, electrical systems, plumbing, and painting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of maintenance issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside regular working hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, or painting.
  • Previous experience working in a community or facility maintenance role.
  • Prefer knowledge of energy management systems and sustainability practices (not a must, but ideal).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time; be able to reach overhead; have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
  • Be able to work in various positions including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time, climbing stairs, navigating the property/building quickly and easily as required to meet the job functions.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 14 ft on A-frames and 21 ft on extension ladders).
  • Ability to work in different environmental working conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain, humidity).
  • Repeat various motions with the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment up to 50 lbs occasionally to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word.
  • Maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May directly or indirectly supervise maintenance staff members.

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday; 7AM – 3:30PM; On-Call duties as needed.

Compensation: $27 - $29 Hourly
