Basic Function:

Primary responsibilities include preparation of chemical and mechanical lab samples, analysis and compilation of data. Must understand and operate Spectrograph & Micro grain inspection equipment and be trained as back-up with Tensile, Brinell, and Ultrasonic.

Responsibilities: General

1. Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities

2. Wearing of proper safety equipment; keeping work area clean and safe at all times

3. Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship

4. Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process

5. Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information

6. Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards

7. All other duties as assigned

Responsibilities: Chemical Lab -Primary Responsibilities shared with Tech II

1. Preparation of samples submitted for chemical analysis and micrograin analysis

2. Set-up spectrograph: burn standards to qualify alloys. Set-up microscope: analyze grain size to qualify alloys.

3. Chemical analysis of received raw material to verify the chemical make-up versus the provided material certification

4. Chemical and grain analysis of material utilized for the in-process production of castings

5. Computer and Log Data entry

6. Communication with Melting personnel and Management

7. Care, maintenance, cleaning and organization of analytical equipment, sample preparation equipment and storage of chemical samples

Responsibilities: Mechanical Lab Technician -Secondary

1. Preparation of samples submitted for mechanical analysis; Tensile, Brinell destruct test, corrosion panel

2. Operation of Tensile and Brinell test equipment to verify that tested specimens meet the material and customer requirements

3. Computer and Log Data entry

4. Communication with Heat-Treat personnel and Management

Responsibilities: Corrosion Panel Preparation - Secondary

1. Accumulate required panels; segregate by melt

2. Create Bar Code label with job & operation code

3. Complete router paperwork

4. Pass to Surface Treat Operation

Responsibilities: UT - Secondary

1. Use and basic understanding of the ultrasonic thickness gauge instrument and couplant medium or jel to inspect the wall thickness of a casting.

2. Follow provided UT Plan

3. Record values of found thicknesses within the plan

4. Notify the Quality department of any out of tolerance conditions

5. Ensure each casting tested is clean and free of couplant

6. Knowledge of procedures to fill out and complete the Route tickets and move castings to the next operation
