We are looking for:
The Process Engineer will be responsible for process improvement, hands-on support, troubleshooting production issues, and suggesting product and process improvements for the Blue Island, IL site.
We count on you for:
Must perform job activities in compliance with site HSE policies and procedures.
Performs feasibility studies for technology transfers and new product introduction. Includes assessment of current equipment capabilities, HSE issues, capital requirements, and quality assurance capabilities.
Analyzes quality for multiple product lines utilizing statistical control charts. Works toward establishing ‘in-control’ processes. Identifies areas of variation (raw materials, process, or quality analysis), implements measures to reduce variation, and tracks effectiveness of reduction measures.
Provides leadership in a process improvement team setting.
Supports the startups and commissioning of new projects, products and processes.
Analyzes process data and quality critical parameters for control of manufacturing processes. Troubleshoots problem areas and identifies measures for improvement.
Analyzes, tracks and reports batch cycle times as part of the sites Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and other key metrics for key equipment and key product lines.
Identifies and implements process optimization improvements (output of OEE) to establish consistent cycle times and reduce overall cycle times.
Investigates off-grade or abnormal batches. Identifies root cause, reports findings, and implements corrective actions.
Manages small capital projects associated with the process to comply with Solvay’s NEG guidelines.
Prepares flow diagrams, P&ID’s, and equipment and control specifications
Utilize management of change for applicable situations.
Trains site employees on unit operations, chemistries, and DCS changes/enhancements in regards to the process.
Responsible for day to day troubleshooting associated with the process.
Responds to the needs of the plant in a timely manner.
Site contact on engineering and technical issues.
Utilizes and works with in the ISO 9001 standard framework/system.
Utilizes the tools of Manufacturing Excellence to engage all departments as part of the sites growth.
Routine participation in the Manufacturing Excellence whiteboard meetings. These include the daily production meeting, the tri-weekly production planning meeting, and the weekly technical meeting.

You will bring:
Bachelor's of Science in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred)
1+ years of process engineering experience within the chemical industry. Sulfuric acid and manufacturing and/or surfactant chemistry experience is a plus.
Strong communication skills (oral and written) ranging from hourly employees to upper management, including customers
Knowledge of engineering and safety standards
Process and plant design experience (equipment selection/sizing, layouts, heat loads, etc.)
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
Must be able to simultaneously organize and prioritize numerous tasks
This position require the person to be independent, systematic, organized and self-motivated
Must be able to manage external contractors
Must be able to lead process improvement teams
Working knowledge of process piping, pumps, electrical and instrumentation/controls systems
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and EFfCI standards
Experience with SAP

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $80,560 to $100,700 per year
Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
