Level Descriptions:
Level I - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to entry level employees.
Level II - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level I positions.
Senior - Highly experienced in the position. Advanced awareness of the technical needs of controls system programming, integrations to other systems, and very sophisticated HVAC strategies if working in the control field.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Level 1:
Identifies and resolves potential project issues during design, submittal, and installation phases of the project.
Coordinates with Subcontractors or internal installation team to achieve maximum value in installations including point to point check out and all the documentation that is involved.
Trouble shoot and provide resolutions to mechanical and installation issues that can come up when executing the static and dynamic start up and commissioning of building controls.
Provide information proactively and support to subcontractors and other trade contractors on the project site.
Review and quality check graphics and programming to meet the sequence of operations per specifications.
Provide and ensure implementation of startup documentation including, check out logs, commissioning documents, etc. as required for assigned projects.
Ensure database backups are created and saved on the network share drive.
Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
Review the as-built drawings for the accurate preparation of the close out documents.
Coordinates and lays out work with Subcontractors or internal installation team to achieve maximum value in installations.
Reviews all project documents and deliverables. Including Scope, Plans, Specification, Contract Documents, Design Submittals.
Reviews Sales Estimates and forecast re-estimates as required.
Attend all project meetings as required by the Customer.
Walk the projects to know the status of the installation and to prepare for the project meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Level 2:
Review design submittal packages with the Design specialist to ensure it meetsproject specifications.
Recommends technical solutions to sales and operations. Assist Sales team during estimating phase.
Communicate with external organizations as required such as commissioning agents, fire marshals, consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors to facilitate the pre-commissioning and commissioning process.
Initiate the transition from Construction Operations Team to Service Operations Team. Verify that proper backups, as builts and facility performance software is in place.
Determines if customer expectations are aligned with Climatec’s and if these can be achieved based upon contractual scope. Provides feedback on this as appropriate internally and externally.
Invoices projects timely and is actively engaged in collections to minimize aging.
Coordinates material orders and timing with Material Coordinator to maximize material handling efficiency. Ensures all equipment is compatible and will function properly to achieve the required sequences.
Provides input to sales and operations regarding the technical aspects of the project. This input could be associated with areas such as estimating, value engineering, scheduling, special resource needs, or other aspects particular to specific projects.
Communicate to the customer and supervisors proactively regarding the project status.
Senior:
Provide solutions to avoid schedule and Milestone misses.
Identifies change order opportunities to pursue, price and negotiate them with the customer.
Accurately estimate manpower needs for the duration of the project and communicate to supervisors on weekly scheduling meetings.
Develop and Finalize Project schedules.
Secures and reviews Estimates from Subcontractors.
Negotiates and issues Subcontracts based on contract scope and within the estimated cost.
Forecast costs for each area of the project and track this over time to achieve budget.
Participate in monthly Revenue meetings and provide a three-month revenue and manpower forecast.
Skills & Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of a two-year technical associates degree in HVAC or Mechanical engineering
5+ years of Business Management Systems industry related experience, specifically in the capacity of an engineering coordinator, project engineer, lead systems specialist, Design or Software Engineer.
Other technical experience such as military, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
Experience including but not limited to:
An understanding of computer operating systems including MS Office Suite of products.
Proficient working with electronic troubleshooting equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
A working understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers, multi- phase power, etc. (120VAC and greater)
A thorough understanding of HVAC systems and how they operate.
Ability to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities to Team members.
Understanding Project Specifications and requirements.
Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project Engineers also need to have a strong awareness of the culture of the industry in which we work.
Ability to read and understand constructions documents, such as Plans, Specs, Contract requirements, Architectural and electrical drawings.
Ability to successfully resolve conflicts and protect Climatec’s financial interests.
Experience with programming and the ability to troubleshoot networking issues is a plus
Project Engineers need to have the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
Essential Functions:
Be able to lift and carry drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
Be able to climb several flights of stairs throughout a typical day on a construction site.
Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec’s vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
