The Cigna Group Graphic Designer and Web Producer in Bloomfield, Connecticut

As a graphic designer and web producer for our fast-paced in-house editorial team, you will help visualize our company's stories in compelling and engaging ways across our three primary digital story-telling properties: The Cigna Group Newsroom, Cigna Healthcare Newsroom, and Evernorth Newsroom. In this role, your primary responsibility is to support the editorial team by producing visual assets such as charts, data visualizations, video, and more, to complement the written stories we create.

The job requires a deep knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products, specifically Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and InDesign, and you must be able to quickly create digital media assets (video, infographics, charts, and more) to bring the articles that our editorial team create to life. Knowledge of Canva is also preferred. This person will own and manage the production and layout of content via a content management system (CMS) and some understanding of HTML/CSS is preferred. The position is on The Cigna Group’s External Affairs team within the Communications organization, and reports to the Newsrooms’ Editor-in-Chief.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the editorial team that creates content across our three Newsrooms.

  • Support the editorial team by creating dynamic, engaging visual content to complement the written word (video, charts, infographics, data visualizations, animations, etc.)

  • Engage key stakeholders across the enterprise to identify and develop visual story ideas that align to The Cigna Group’s mission, values, and business objectives.

  • Own the production, staging, and Q/A process for editorial content within our content management systems.

  • Assist with day-to-day site management and maintenance of our editorial calendar via a project management tool (Airtable).

  • Collaborate with coworkers across the organization to plan and track content distribution and promotion strategies.

  • Monitor content performance via analytics and help with reporting and turning numbers into insights.

  • Take the lead on special projects related to the Newsrooms as needed.

Experience and competencies:

  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign, After Effects), as well as Canva is a top criteria for this role.

  • Experience staging and producing content in a content management system for digital publishing (E.g. Drupal), HTML/CSS understanding is a plus.

  • Experience at a fast-paced, online publication is a plus.

  • Experience creating complex data visualizations using raw data.

  • Ability to effectively manage, track, and complete multiple assignments simultaneously,

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

  • Understanding of user experience and general search engine optimization best practices.

  • An innate ability to compellingly communicate brand stories with an eye toward thinking beyond text-based content.

  • Adept at tailoring content for different audiences, including B2B and B2C

  • Experience creating content for multiple brands and visual identities, managing brand standards and compliance.

  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills required.

  • Well-versed in social media and emerging digital media trends.

  • Podcasting and audio editing experience is a plus.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
