Position Title: Student Intern - Engineering (Electrical) (Summer 2025)

Position Purpose:

This is a temporary position that assists the Electrical Engineering section at headquarters. The incumbent must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the development of technical drawings to improve troubleshooting.

  • Verify as built conditions and subsequent drawing updates.

  • Assist engineering staff on project assignments.

  • Generate tracking reports.

Qualifications :

  • Enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) electrical engineering program with completion of sophomore year; or

  • Recently completed a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) electrical engineering program.

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) is preferred.

  • Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal and organization skills, proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and personal computers.

  • Able to work as part of a team.

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Resume and unofficial transcript required.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires frequent sitting, and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending/reaching, kneeling, lifting/carring up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position occasionally may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position may need to be respirator qualified. Occasional travel may be required.

Wage: $26 per hour
