Missouri Slope Grill Line Cook in Bismarck, North Dakota

$18.00/hour starting wage or higher based on previous experience!

SHIFTS:

Washington St. Campus:

  • 5:30am - 2:00pm, 36 - 40 hours per week.

Hillview Campus:

  • 5:30am - 2:00pm, 24 - 32 hours per week.

May include rotating weekends and holidays*

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Must be able to prepare short order items from the grill and deep fryer when requested by the residents/tenants. Must be able to serve menu items and know portion control. Know correct food temperatures and sanitary food practices. Transport food and serve on tray line from the main kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have completed grammar school or higher. Must be 16 years of age or older.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English sufficient to calculate measurements, read and follow recipes, tray tickets and menus and special events.
  2. Responsible to practice economy in the use of utilities, food, supplies and equipment.
  3. Responsible for knowing and maintaining high quality standards of food production.
  4. Understanding and following the menu - (regular and therapeutic) and the daily tallies.
  5. Will prepare food in proper quantities as needed to meet menu requirements for residents, staff and special events.
  6. Be accurate in weighing and measuring of food and portions.
  7. Will serve food neatly, attractively, at the proper temperature and according to tray ticket.
  8. Will prepare and cook some food items on your own.
  9. Will keep own working area clean.
  10. Will take and record the temperature of the food as scheduled.
  11. Must be respectful towards supervision and willing to accept instruction and constructive criticism.
  12. Must demonstrate a flexible attitude in accepting changes in job assignments and a patient, cooperative manner in working with fellow employees, helping to create a positive work environment.
  13. Must have organizational skills to complete duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  14. Responsible to respect and uphold resident rights in all actions including confidentiality of resident information, and not to act in any manner that would be considered emotional or physical abuse or neglectful of the residents needs.
  15. Responsible for following proper cleaning, sanitation and safe operating procedures in completing food production, dishwashing, collecting, stripping, washing and storing of dishes.
  16. Responsible to report any incident of abuse, neglect or unsafe condition to immediate supervisor.
  17. Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds frequently, 25 to 40 pounds occasionally, and 50 pounds rarely during food production and distribution.
  18. Is responsible to push and pull hot/cold food carts of 10-25 pounds on a frequent basis, 25 to 40 occasionally, 40-75 pounds rarely as well as a variety of other service carts.
  19. Must be able to stand and walk constantly, stoop, twist and bend at waist frequently, reach overhead, forward and laterally frequently, grasp with hands and move wrists up and down, side to side frequently, squat and kneel occasionally.
  20. Must be able to taste/smell and discriminate between hot/cold, sharp and dull.
  21. Responsible to follow all safety and sanitary procedures which requires wearing goggles, masks, disposable gloves, face mask and proper use of cleaning chemicals and soap products frequently.
  22. Must have the ability to use necessary large equipment, (grill, deep fryer, microwave, convection and standard ovens, institutional dishwasher, and sharp items such as knives).
  23. Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English to calculate measurements, read, understand and follow recipes, tray tickets, menus and special event requisitions.
  24. Must be able to be exposed to normal kitchen noise frequently, to be exposed to infectious hazards from residents trays and other employees rarely.
  25. Must be able to be exposed to heat/cold occasionally from ovens, s eamers, grill, and deep fryer and from taking out and putting items in walk-in coolers and freezers.
  26. Must be aware of the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and Risk Management/Safety Program and follow all safety policy and procedures when completing tasks as indicated in both the Nutritional Services Department, as well as facility wide.
  27. Personal appearance must be neat and clean with good personal hygiene following Nutritional Services dress code.
  28. Must be punctual and dependable with attendance.
  29. Must attend in-service programs regularly as scheduled, demonstrate a willingness to learn, and adapt to change in procedure when necessary.
  30. Demonstrate MSLCCs customer service standards of excellence.
  31. Must complete assigned learning activities by the designated due date on the HealthStreams Learning Center to meet mandatory and staff development education requirements.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with Special Events as assigned
  2. Complete special cleaning as assigned.
