Job Description:

Provide functional and/or technical support for the Maximo (IBM application) as used to support Work Management and Supply Chain processes for Generation, Technical & Project Solutions and Nuclear Functions of Southern Company. Existing and/or future applications in the portfolio are Maximo, Emptoris, Smart by GEP, Maximo Mobile, AFS Warehouse Management System (WMS), EZMaxMobile, Scott (custom front-end for AdTrav’s RezDesk), Primavera and other in-house applications on an as needed basis. Assist in and perform non-recurring special projects, including upgrades of these specific applications. Learn and support other applications within the thirty-application suite of Enterprise Solutions applications.

Day-to-Day, the analyst will perform functional tasks including functional requirements development, configuration, maintenance, enhancements, and upgrades. The analyst will also support delivery of associated training and execution of monthly processes as required by the business unit. The analyst must possess a solid understanding of the applications functionality, intended processes, uses, and feature that business partners can leverage during their daily work. Experience working with users and development staff on issues and efforts related to the implementation of maintenance, purchasing, service management and inventory management or other business processes. They must possess experience working with relational databases, BIRT, COGNOS and other technologies. Knowledge of software development and applications development lifecycle along with formal project management techniques are desirable. The analyst will be responsible for interacting with the users to obtain information and share information needed for successful system implementation, upgrades, usage, and maintenance experience. Analyzing source data files and layouts to develop data conversion requirements and create and maintain client-ready data conversion requirements documents. Strong ability to communicate with other Maximo team members.

This position resides in the Maximo Center of Excellence (COE) which reports up through the Technology Organization (TO).

Education & Experience:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree is preferred. Major focus in a technical field (Computer Science/MIS or Engineering) is preferred but another business-related field will be considered. Master’s Degree is a plus.

  • 2+ years of leadership experience (Management or Project Lead)

  • Previous experience with the IBM EZMaxMobile/Maximo 7.6 applications or higher.

  • Previous experience with familiarity supporting similar work management or asset management systems.

  • Previous experience with Oracle application Primavera V16 or V18 is a plus.

  • Previous experience with Emptoris v9.5 is a plus.

  • Previous experience with Smart by GEP is a plus.

  • Previous experience with AFS Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a plus.

  • Previous experience with Interpro EZMaxMobile is a plus.

  • Previous experience with ETL activities.

  • Previous experience with MxLoader.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of processes and procedures related to power generation plant desired.

  • Previous experience providing end-user support to multiple user groups.

  • Proficient in data management skills with experience in writing or using SQL queries to analyze data to identify problems.

  • Previous Experience in using established Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) framework.

  • Functional and some technical knowledge of BIRT framework and technology.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the design and architecture of Maximo Work Management solutions, ensuring alignment with business of objectives and WM strategies.

  • Providing business partner facing production support for incidents escalated beyond the front-line support team include “how to” requests. Examples of incidents include troubleshooting system/integration errors, complex data management/repair requests, and triaging system change requests.

  • Triage and prioritization of incidents based on business impact.

  • Resolution or dispatch of incidents based on incident type/prioritization and resource availability.

  • Escalation of enhancement requests to management and business process teams for review.

  • Facilitating non-development related portions of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, technical design, and testing.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships within the Technology Organization, Supply Chain stakeholders (Gas, Nuclear, Generation, and Power Delivery), as well as the Enterprise Strategic Transformation Organization

  • Partnering with business partners to stay abreast of emerging needs in our customers’ business and leveraging opportunities to further extract value from our supported applications.

  • Leading and executing major projects and upgrades with responsibilities to include:

  • Project strategy development (i.e. – strategies and approaches for data conversion, testing, defect remediation, etc.)

  • Workshop facilitation

  • Requirements documentation

  • Fit gap analysis

  • Functional Testing

  • Collaborating with external software vendors and internal support resources (e.g. – Technology Organization (TO) Service Desk, TO Center of Excellence (COE), TO Infrastructure, Database Services, etc.) to provide seamless support to the business partner.

  • Coordinate and produce metrics for continuous improvement.

  • Developing and maintaining system documentation pertaining to support responsibilities and tasks.

  • Ability to learn new technology in support of application modifications.

  • Work with business partners to provide excellent user support for Maximo and related business processes.

  • Gather and analyze business requirements, prepare requirements documents including workflow diagrams, and then develop functional design documents.

  • Participate in web sessions and meetings with IBM, to stay informed on the upcoming releases and capabilities.

  • Effectively communicate work status information, design discussions and issues with the team comprised of resources from IT, contractors, and end users.

  • Stay current with the latest Maximo updates and industry trends, recommending upgrades or improvements when necessary.

  • Work with technical team in reviewing technical specifications and translating technical issues/requests in a manner that can be understood by the business users, and vice versa.

  • Provide input to estimates so cost tracking can be generated for various project efforts.
