Job Title: Civil Engineer

Job Description

This role involves providing civil sitework engineering design services, including grading plan design, hydrology and stormwater management systems design, roadway design, and erosion control planning and design. You will be responsible for preparing construction drawing packages, calculations, and sketches. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential for producing and preparing civil sitework designs and construction drawing packages using internally provided CAD templates, go-bys, and drafting standards. Limited travel may be required to support engineering designs and drawing packages, with an expectation for site familiarity and photo documentation during visits. Additionally, you will provide construction support as needed with respect to the provided designs and construction drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide civil sitework engineering design services.

  • Design grading plans, hydrology and stormwater management systems, roadways, and erosion control plans.

  • Prepare construction drawing packages, calculations, and sketches.

  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce and prepare civil sitework designs and construction drawing packages.

  • Conduct limited travel for site familiarity and photo documentation as needed.

  • Provide technical support and information to construction site teams during construction.

  • Offer construction support for designs and construction drawings.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in site development design including grading plan design, hydrology and stormwater management systems design, roadway design, and erosion control planning and design.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for construction plan package development.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to interface with contractors, department personnel, vendors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

  • Self-starter and proactive.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent people skills and ability to work effectively with a team or independently.

Work Environment

Onsite in Birmingham, with some limited travel to generation sites across the client's footprint possible
