About Occupational Health
At Ascension, our occupational health service teams examine how your employees' professional environment and personal health can affect their on-the-job performance. We make on-site visits to your workplace to ensure employee safety and make recommendations to help prevent potential injuries. Our goal is to treat each patient with dignity and respect, to gather and communicate information thoughtfully, and to restore patients to health with compassion.
We offer a wide range of services, including:
Possible fractures requiring x-rays
Lacerations requiring sutures
Foreign object in eyes
Chemical exposures/blood and body fluid exposures
Drug screenings/alcohol testing:
Medical Review Officer (MRO) evaluation
Five and ten-panel drug screens
Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals
What you will do:
As a Certified Medical Assistant with St. Vincent's Health System-AL, you will have the opportunity to assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).
Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
What you will need:
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
A diploma for Medical Assistant will be allowed in lieu of CMA Certification.
Experience with Ortho / Urgent Care / Occupational Health
1-3 years CMA experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
