Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Auditor in Birmingham, Alabama. This role is primarily focused on conducting tax and regulatory reviews for clients. The position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and excellent analytical skills. This Auditor role offers a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must live in Alabama to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough tax and regulatory reviews on behalf of clients to detect and correct any revenue deficiencies.

• Perform examination of client records for compliance under the direction of a supervisor and management.

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of tax laws and apply this knowledge in the preparation for audits.

• Conduct meetings with taxpayers to discuss audit procedures, answer questions, and collect necessary information and records.

• Examine and verify business and financial records for accuracy and compliance.

• Prepare supportive documents for all adjustments and compute assessments as needed.

• Review and discuss audit findings with taxpayers and/or representatives to explain the application of tax laws and rulings to their specific operations.

• Prepare statistical and narrative reports to explain and support audit results.

• Answer taxpayer inquiries and participate in hearings of disputed cases when required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Word is essential

• Prior experience or understanding of auditing processes is a plus

• A bachelor degree in Accounting or related field is required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial

• Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are necessary

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

• Ethical conduct and adherence to financial regulations and standards

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
