As a Skillbridge intern at CAE you will learn how to leverage your technical and leadership skills in the civilian world with the goal of joining our team full time at the conclusion of your internship.

DoD Skillbridge Eligibility:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty

  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement

  • Will receive an honorable discharge

  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS

  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD Skillbridge Program prior to start of internship

System Engineers provide technical expertise for the design, development, integration, testing, verification and validation of total training systems solutions used in military flight and maintenance training systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • This position is for a systems engineer who is self-motivated, has a strong work ethic, and takes ownership and accountability for their work.

  • Conduct engineering system development tasks including system requirements analysis, system architecture and design, preliminary design, critical design, system integration support, test procedure development, formal verification, and formal validation.

  • Perform Requirements Analysis using DOORS, and DOORS Next Gen, and other system engineering tools.

  • Must be capable of interpreting and analyzing customer documents and needs, defining the system-level architecture, and allocating subsystem requirements.

  • Reviews project specifications, generates System /Sub-system requirements, assists in creating component specifications

  • Performs system-level analyses, determines necessary trade studies, defines, and allocates the functional requirements to subsystem

  • Perform project requirements verification and cross references to test documentation and assists with the development of test plans and procedures.

  • Understand and implement systems engineering processes on programs and projects.

  • Create and update essential engineering documents including specifications, reports, plans, technical memos, and presentations

  • Manage assigned software tasks by planning tasking assignments, tracking tasks to closure, and supporting peers as required.

  • Ensure all program requirements are met, program risks are identified and mitigated, and company processes are followed.

  • Candidate must be a fast learner with very strong analysis and problem-solving skills

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required

  • A minimum of 10 years Systems engineering experience

  • Ability to apply sound engineering principles and develop innovative solutions

  • Experience in Systems engineering disciplines and the government program acquisition lifecycle, to include requirements definition, creation of requirements verification test matrices, requirements decomposition, requirements traceability, design reviews and documentation, and integration and test Excellent communication skills including oral, written, interpersonal, and listening

  • Proven success in a fast-paced development environment and possess a willingness to take ownership, accept accountability, and thrive under pressure

  • Ability to provide and receive constructive criticism

  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • General computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within a five-year investigation period

  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime, weekend work, shift work and site travel (CONUS)

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of SysML principles

  • Model based systems engineering experience

  • Experience with Aerodynamics design and RF Systems

  • Experience with Flight Simulation and/or Radar Systems

  • Familiarity with aircraft avionics 1553 protocol and simulator experience

  • Experience working in a production environment

  • Prior Military Experience

    Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
