Budget Title: Senior Programmer/Analyst (SL-4)

The Senior Business Systems Administrator is a member of a technical team responsible for the development and advancement of Binghamton University's enterprise systems in the Information Technology Services Department. The Senior Business Systems Administrator position, reporting to the Assistant Director of Business Systems, serves as an expert technical resource, working with the Assistant Director of Business Systems, to develop, support and maintain integrations with the SSO, Oracle, and Banner ERP systems, and other university systems. We develop, administer, and implement innovative solutions for our campus community.
Responsibilities include:
Perform complex analytical and programming activities associated with supporting systems and interfaces
Design and perform analysis and author programming associated with maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to existing authentication and administrative applications
Investigate and become familiar with emerging technologies with the intent of implementation as well as to provide training to other team members and act as a resource for developing standards of these technologies
Work in concert with the assistant director, project leaders, managers, and departments on technical designs and consultations
Assist in maintaining and review of a centrally located repository of documentation. Documentation should describe the infrastructure and architecture of the systems, program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, modifications, and execution instructions necessary for operations
Shibboleth and SSO authentication systems
University data infrastructure
Banner infrastructure development
Oracle application including Apache, Weblogic and Banner Workflow
Other department specific applications
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Experience with relational database systems and SQL
Knowledge of system development fundamentals, development process, and requirements
Experience with Oracle database administration
Relevant experience integrating business systems and applications
Experience with Linux administration
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to process information logically
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Evidence of effective interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to coordinate, manage, and consult with individuals from all levels
Preferences:
Master's degree in computer science, information systems/sciences, or a related field
2 or more years' relevant programming experience
Demonstrated skills in software design, debugging, testing, and documentation
Experience working in a large, complex organization
Relevant experience integrating business systems and applications in a higher education environment.
Experience building interfaces and integrations between disparate systems
Experience with Linux and Shell scripting
Ability to understand languages, tools, and frameworks such as C, Groovy/Grails, Java, PHP, PL/SQL, Python, XML, Eclipse, and am SCM
Experience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud infrastructure is a plus
Experience with Apache and Tomcat is a plus
Experience with identity management technologies (Okta, SSO, SAML, OAuth) is a plus
Experience with javascript is a plus
Experience working with Banner Student systems is a plus
