Association for Vision Rehabilitation & Employment Facilities Maintenance Assistant in Binghamton, New York
The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance Assistant is to assist the Facilities Supervisor with the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment, facilities, and mechanical systems. He/she will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks. Responsibilities will include maintenance of the building exterior and property, including weather related duties.
<P>SUPERVISION REQUIRED: The position involves direct supervision from the Facilities Supervisor and/or Director of Manufacturing, as appropriate.
<P>EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED equivalent
<P>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: <LI> Must be able to sit, stand, or drive for more than 4 hours in a work day <LI> Must be able to lift and carry up to a 50 pound object <LI> Full use of arms and hands to reach overhead, forward, and out to the sides to lift, rotate, carry, etc. <LI> Must be alert and aware of surroundings for safety concerns
<P>OTHER REQUIREMENTS: <LI> Must have a valid driver's license <LI> Basic knowledge with pneumatics, AC/DC power and hydraulics <LI> Some experience driving snow plow truck <LI> Some experience driving 14' box truck
<P>SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <LI> Preventative maintenance of all equipment <LI> Maintain a log <LI> Assist/perform diagnostic problems with equipment, set up, repairs, adjustments and checking for quality as needed <LI> Maintenance and repairs of the exterior building and grounds, including snow removal and landscape maintenance <LI> Maintain safety related documentation (lock out tag out) <LI> Assist in performing routine building inspections with members of the Safety Committee <LI> Assist with shipping as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor <LI> Assist with deliveries as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor and or Director of Manufacturing <LI> Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving machines and processes through teamwork within each department <LI> Perform other associated duties as needed to continue the operation of the manufacturing department in the most productive and efficient manner <LI> Keeps workplace organized and clean <LI> Must be available for overtime as needed
