Binghamton University is a top-ranked public university in New York. As part of an expansion of graduate programs in the health sciences, the State of New York has supported new facilities at the Johnson City Health Sciences Campus, including the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the neighboring Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The school's basic and translational science laboratories include extensive state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to carry out cutting edge research.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is searching for an Assistant Professor-level tenure-track faculty member in Pharmacology to contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. We invite applicants with pharmacological expertise to apply. The successful applicant may be pharmacology-focused and/or have pharmacological interdisciplinary expertise across areas such as mechanistic biology with disease relevance, pathophysiological mechanisms, drug development, drug target identification/validation, etc. The specific area of focus is open, but relevance to existing work in the department is preferred (see below). Extensive facilities for experimental, pre-clinical and clinical pharmacology, are available to support the successful applicants.

The School is housed in a newly constructed research and education building funded by the State of New York. The faculty member will join a collaborative research group with expertise in neuroscience and addiction, muscle and neuromuscular disorders, cancer, inflammation and inflammatory disorders, drug and biomarker development, pharmacokinetic modeling, and pre-clinical and clinical trials. Applicants with a strong record of research contributions including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and extramural support are desired. A commitment to departmental teaching and service, diversity and inclusion, and student mentoring is important. Previous experience in teaching is welcomed, but not required; we are willing to mentor and train engaged and motivated individuals to excel in their teaching. Salary is commensurate with experience and competitive lab startup funding is available.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

Demonstrate a commitment to research excellence and innovation by developing and sustaining a rigorous externally-funded research program that creates new knowledge, processes, tools, or translation to address unmet needs or gaps in the applicant's research field.

Demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, including developing, teaching and assessing didactic and laboratory components in courses within the PharmD, MS and PhD programs (content areas for teaching will be primarily pharmacology-related per departmental needs).

Develop and provide research mentorship for students in PharmD, MS and PhD graduate programs

Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal communication skills and participate in service activities at the Department, School and University levels, as appropriate.

Demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of students, faculty and staff and actively promote an inclusive academic environment.

Job Requirements:

Applicants must have a PhD, PharmD, MD or equivalent degree with post-doctoral, industry, or other research-related post-doctoral or principal investigator experience.
