Boehringer Ingelheim Scientist - Mass Spectometry Drug Development in Biberach, Germany
The Position
As a Scientist positioned within the Structural Analysis group in Analytical Development (Biberach site) you will develop and apply innovative mass spectrometry methods to structure elucidation of unknown API impurities during early and late stage drug development.
Based on your expertise in small molecule and peptide analytics, particularly in the latest liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques you will actively contribute to the discovery, development and delivery of our products to our patients and customers.
Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role you closely collaborate with coworkers in the mass spectrometry lab and NMR specialists in our group, as well as scientists in research, development and production.
Furthermore, you will apply state-of-the art LC-MS equipment to analytical problems in NCE development, process troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
You will test and establish new, innovative analytical techniques and scientific software from major mass spectrometry vendors.
Moreover, you will foster innovative and agile thinking in Structural Analysis.
Requirements
PhD Degree in Chemistry or related discipline and several years of experience in the field of high-resolution mass spectrometry
Demonstrated experience in LC-MS/MS structural elucidation of small molecule or synthetic peptide impurities, applying the latest fragmentation techniques
Experience in trouble-shooting modern mass spectrometry equipment and laboratory software from major vendors
Networking in the international mass spectrometry community demonstrated by authorship in scientific papers in mass spec journals or presentations at international conferences
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative dynamic industry research & development setting
High motivation to provide scientific guidance to staff and to develop leadership skills
Fluency in written and spoken English, additional knowledge of German is a plus
