Northampton County's Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is recruiting for a contracted Registered Dietitian 

This Registered Dietitian position is a 1099 contracted position, limited to 272 hours per year.

This position will require working from home and also travelling between various Senior Centers throughout Northampton County.

Job Description

Registered Dietitian The Registered Dietitian (Provider) will determine the quality and effectiveness of each meal program served, consumer satisfaction, and compliance with PDA nutrition requirements and FSV contracts.   The Provider shall:

  • Monitor each distinct type of meal served within the service area at a minimum of once per six-month cycle at each of the eleven Senior Centers.
  • Monitor meals at the site of meal service.
  • Verify meal compliance of menus submitted and approved.
  • Provide a written report to the AAA within forty-five calendar days of the monitoring visit.
  • Be responsible for reviewing for RDA and approving menus submitted by Easton Area Community Center and Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley on a monthly basis.

Monitoring shall include:

  • Portion monitoring to assure adequate protein, carbohydrate, and vitamin compliance within the APD guidelines and the AAA contract with the FSV.
  • Observation to assure the amount of food distributed to the meal site is adequate for meal service
  • Quality monitoring to assure food served is of a quality deemed acceptable for service to the individuals and meets food quality and food grade requirements set forth in the AAA contract with the FSV.
  • Nutrition analysis of menu served to assure meals meet the nutrient profile of the menu to be served.  Meals shall mirror the approved menu with substitutions providing a comparable nutrient profile.
  • Therapeutic diet monitoring as a result of a signed order for the diet and therapeutic diet adherence.        
  • Validating food item temperatures.
  • Assuring drinking water is available.

Evaluation shall include:

  • Compliance to food service contract requirements.
  • Assessment of the quality of the nutrition program.
  • Professional recommendations to enhance or improve the nutrition program.

Provider will comply with any and all changes made to Aging Program Directives regarding nutrition programs.

Provider will be responsible for presenting quarterly Nutrition Education Programs at each of the Senior Centers across the County, along with keeping up-to-date records of such programs.

Provider shall be certified in the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) and implement one program within the County per calendar year, submitting all necessary paperwork to the Senior Center Services Director.
