This position is responsible for providing front-line customer service and administrative support at the library's circulation desk. This position plays a crucial role in assisting library patrons, managing library materials, and ensuring a welcoming and organized library environment.

This position is a Grade: 6-37.5 with an approximate salary range of $31,300-$37,570 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

Position Number: S75980

 

1.Assists with library circulation and interlibrary loan activities

 

Coordinates library circulation activities including material requests, searches, lending and inventory control via library systems. Receives and processes requests for interlibrary loan from multiple sources. Processes shipping, receipt and dissemination of electronic and physical materials internally within Lehigh community and externally with other academic libraries. Tracks materials loaned using library systems and invoices for materials that are damaged or not returned. Searches library shelves for requests, missing or non-returned items. Supervises student assistants in processing and fulfilling library functions including circulation, shelving and organization of materials. Assists researchers with inquiries about the status of patron accounts, loans and requests. Communicates and interprets library policies and procedures to library users.

 

  1. Patron Assistance:

     

Provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons (physical and virtual) in a welcoming and professional manner. Provides general information on library services, collections, policies, programs and locations Assists with library resources like circulation, reserves, on-line catalog, databases and electronic resources and directs inquiries to reference librarians when necessary. Help patrons with library equipment, such as computers, printers, and copiers. Monitors the condition of public and staff photocopiers and scanners. Trains and directs Student Assistants and Team Members in the operation and basic maintenance of photocopiers and scanners. Utilize Lehigh tools such as Jira, Confluence and Slack and to manage inquiries

 

  1. Special Projects and Professional Development

     

Participate on LTS or University committees Participate in continual professional development: attend conferences, Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC) meetings, LTS seminars, HR workshops and other professional development opportunities Assist with meeting strategic goals of LTS and take part in Diversity, Inclusion and Equity initiatives in LTS and at the University

Qualifications

 

High school diploma or GED is required; Associates or Vocational/Technical Degree in Library Science preferred

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Excellent decision-making skills

 

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
