2nd shift Machine Shop Supervisor, $60k +/- (DOE), Bethlehem, PA

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Working under minimal supervision in a heavy industrial manufacturing machine shop, this position involves directing employees in various technical and operational aspects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Directly supervises various production employees.

Ensure effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Recommends employment decisions, such as hiring and terminations. Resolves employee issues

Provides technical assistance as required.

Enforces Company policies and procedures.

Coordinates scheduling of shop floor personnel with production schedule. Manages priorities.

Balances quality, productivity, costs, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.

Complies with all safety rules and regulations. Performs accident investigations

Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

Education:

High School Diploma or graduation from a certified tech school required. 2 year associates degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

10-12 years' experience as a metal machining operator, with operational experience of both of manual and CNC lathes/mills..

3-5 years of experience supervising production employees in a manufacturing environment, union shop preferred.

Skills/Competencies:

• Demonstrated leadership and performance management skills

• Strong Math and Computational skills

• Demonstrated Mechanical and Technical capacity

• Demonstrated experience with machining of large forgings

• Understanding of GD&T principles

• Basic understanding of CNC programming/editing

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong time management and communication skills

• Ability to coach, counsel, discipline, reward, and evaluate performance of subordinates

• Attention to detail

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment is an industrial manufacturing machine shop setting with exposure to high noise levels. Hearing protection may be required during certain operations.
