Youth Program Staff - Bethel, AK

Part-time, 10-20 hrs/wk

Spring & Summer sessions

HealthFitness is looking for enthusiastic, attentive Youth Program Staff at the YK Fitness Center in Bethel, AK. In this role, you will lead, support, engage, and motivate youth aged 5-13 in our activity programs. As a part of the Youth Program Staff team, you will have the opportunity to help develop youth programs and to lead and mentor program participants.

Exceptional candidates will be upbeat, responsible, and caring while able to provide a fun, safe experience.

What you'll be doing

  • Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.

  • Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.

  • Proactively address and de-escalate inappropriate behavior

  • Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.

  • Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.

  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.

  • Provide accurate and timely reports of incidents or accidents to program coordinator, staff, and parents.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.

  • At least 1 year of experience working with youth.

  • Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.

  • Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.

  • Active listening skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.

  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.

  • Ability to be a positibe role model for program participants.

  • Ability to navigate electronic onboarding and timecard systems required.
