Job Description
The Food Service Worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, or serving duties in a commercial hotel food service area. This position will support the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge in Bethel, AK.
This is a rotational position with a 4-weeks on & 4-weeks off schedule. Housing and three square meals per day provided. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK. NMS will provide airfare from YKHC Service Area to Bethel, AK for this rotational position.
Responsibilities
Serves both hot and cold food in a friendly manner.
Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
Assists customers as requested with general information, inquiries, etc.
Obtains products requested by customers.
Operates Point of Sale to record price, compile printed list, and display costs.
May assist with inventory of items.
Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
Helps with food service record keeping and reporting necessary data to manager.
May help Sous Chefs with food prep.
Keeps the retail area clean, stocked and tidy at all times.
Washes food service area objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
Helps keep dining room tables clean.
Neat and clean personal appearance.
Follows dress code according to department policies.
Stocks various condiments and service ware.
Cleans, sweep, mop and wipe down all general food service areas and equipment.
May remove garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, etc.
Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
May maintain a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
May stock back storage areas with various products.
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Some prior experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of cleaning equipment/processes or a suitability for and interest in this type of work, preferred.
