Aquatic Manager, Bethel, AK

Management and oversight for Lifeguards, Pool Maintenance & Swim Instruction program!

As Aquatic Manager at YKFC, you will be responsible for the aquatics facility and programs. This includes include recruiting, training, and scheduling staff, managing daily operations, and basic pool maintenance. You'll respond to patron needs; develop, implement, and evaluate aquatics programming; distribute program marketing materials; collect program and event data; and complete regular reports.

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about swimming and water safety and has prior supervisory experience with a background in teaching swimming, Lifeguarding, and water safety. Must hold a current Lifeguard Certification and should have experience training and managing aquatic staff and maintaining a pool facility.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Hires, trains, and supervises Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Aquatic Group Class Instructors. Will periodically fill in to lifeguard or instruct swim lessons.

  • Ensures staff is properly trained and holds approved certifications needed for safe and effective program delivery. Provides continuous feedback, coaching, and performance appraisals to ensure quality of program and service delivery.

  • Leads regular staff meetings to ensure associates are able to practice skills and are meeting safety and programming goals.

  • Oversees the proper maintenance and cleanliness of the aquatic areas.

  • Opens/Closes facility as assigned and serves as Supervisor on Duty, 2nd Lifeguard, and conducts related administrative duties.

  • Distributes, collects, and analyzes program surveys.

  • Oversees the risk management of designated programs.

  • Maintains visibility and a positive customer service image.Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and various committees.

  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • A minimum of 2+ years of relevant aquatic/fitness industry experience working in a customer-facing position.

  • Lifeguarding with CPR/AED and First Aid Certification from American Red Cross.

  • Ability to lead, manage and operate aquatic programs. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook and ability tonavigateelectronic onboarding and timecard systems.

  • Certified Pool Operator preferred (will be required to obtain within 6-9 months).

  • Lifeguard Instructor and/or Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
