Philips Quality Optimization Lead in Best, Netherlands

As a Quality Optimization Lead will be responsible of implementing continuous improvement quality programs, such as First Time Right (FTR) and Product Release Optimization across various operations sites within Philips, while also spearheading efforts to drive cost savings and process enhancements. You will lead, and support initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of defect prevention and quality optimization throughout the manufacturing process. Your responsibilities will include quality data analysis, executing quality optimization events, coaching and developing personnel, and working closely with site teams to identify and mitigate risks at the source. Additionally, you will be tasked with investigating, analyzing, and improving inspection processes, with a focus on areas with stable processes, high scrap costs, and ineffective visual inspections.

This position presents a unique opportunity to drive significant improvements in both quality and efficiency across our manufacturing operations.

Your role:

  • Support the execution of quality improvement kaizen events and optimize product release, sampling, and destructive testing methodologies at operations sites, focusing on identifying conditions required for producing good parts, implementing controls to prevent defects, and driving cost savings and process efficiencies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and site leadership to assess, prioritize risks, and develop and implement action plans to improve product quality, streamline inspection processes and to ensure program objectives are met.

  • Serve as a coach and mentor, providing guidance on problem solving principles, methodologies, and tools, promoting a culture of quality at the source.

  • Lead efforts to optimize product release processes by conducting thorough analyses, implementing data-driven solutions, and reducing reliance on manual inspection throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, escapes, scrap, inventory levels, and cost of poor quality (COPQ), identifying trends and areas for improvement.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts within the quality improvement program and product release processes, leveraging data-driven insights and best practices to enhance product quality and reduce cycle time.

  • This flexible role offers you the opportunity to work with international teams, while benefiting from a hybrid working model (spend at least 3 days working from the office and up to 2 days from home). Travel between 20-30% globally is required for strategic and key initiatives, as well as leadership activities.

You’re the right fit if:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field such Mathematics or Statistics; advanced degree preferred

  • You have strong experience in DMAIC Methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) or equivalent problem-solving methodology

  • You are Lean Six Sigma Green belt certified (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt desirable)

  • You are experienced leading projects

  • You are a strong team player/collaborator with experience working with international cross functional/multidisciplinary teams

  • You are organized, Self-driven and able to work independently

  • You are comfortable presenting to a broad audience of learners from different levels in the organization

  • You have experience mentoring and coaching

  • You possess strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret and present data

  • You are experienced in developing quality improvement strategies (desirable)

  • You are experienced in training trainers and coach development (desirable)

  • You have experience delivering formal curriculum (desirable).
