Philips Mechanical System Architect in Best, Netherlands
Are you passionate about cutting-edge technology and making a difference in the healthcare industry? Join our team and play a pivotal role in defining and designing state-of-the-art mechanical subsystems for MRI functionality in hospitals and diagnostic institutes.
Your role:
Design mechanical concepts: user analyses, define, set requirements, simulate, design prototypes, testing, coach others.
Perform technical feasibility studies and find the added value for business and customers (and vice versa) and integrate on our system such that they become MR Compatible (RF, Magnetics, Proton).
Actively seeking new concepts (e.g., Composite, plastics, Optics, Robotics, Manufacturability etc) to integrate on our system and ‘pilot’ these on our test systems and with proof-of-principles. Furthermore, build hands-on hardware prototypes and proof-of-principles fast by using simulations e.g. Matlab, Simulink and Ansys. Translate your results into drawings by means of Creo Parametric to realize the mechanical prototypes.
Together with internal stakeholders and external (potential) customers define (future) functionalities to improve MRI workflow (Exam time) in hospitals, to gain diagnostic confidence and to improve patient experiences.
Convert (your) technology push ideas into marketing pull and together with internal stakeholders define our technology roadmap
Co-create in big projects with your direct team members that comprise all different competences: electronics, electromechanics, embedded SW, configuration management, thermal, design/UX, plastics, VR, regulatory experts, CAD expert, RF designers, etc, etc.

You will benefit from a hybrid working model
You're the right fit if:
You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical system architecture.
You hold a MSc in Mechanical Engineering
You are an expert in using simulation tools, such as Creo/Matlab/Simulink, Ansys, etc
You can build hands-on proof-of-principles fast (backed up with theoretical models) including testing.
You thrive working in a collaborative environment, have excellent negotiation skills and embrace the internal corporate dynamics between R&D and other non-technical stakeholders and decision makers.
