CK Dairy Grazing System Reproduction Technician in Berthoud, Colorado

Grazing System Reproduction Technician with CK Dairy Enterprises, LLC (Berthoud, CO)

Conduct research in the genetics, nutrition, reproduction, growth, and development of domestic farm animals. Study nutritional requirements of cattle and nutritive values of animal feed materials. Design feeding schedules and rations and adjust rations based on available feed products. Develop breeding plan based on genomics and parent performance to achieve high-producing and healthy cows. Design, monitor, and carry out standardized milking protocols, maintaining storage of all consumable products. Ensure milking infrastructure and equipment are properly functioning and schedule any necessary repairs. Design and implement cleaning and wash procedures in compliance with both state and federal regulations. Ensure and maintain animal health and well-being through implementing cleaning and washing procedures, monitoring breeding schedules, monitoring various health metrics, and administering medication as necessary.

Supervise six (6) employees with the following job titles: 4 Milkers, 1 Reproductive Technician, and 1 Farmhand.

Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, or a related field.

Requires 3 years of related experience.

Must have some experience in each of the following skills: monitor, and carry out standardized milking protocols, and maintain storage of all consumable products; ensure milking infrastructure and equipment are properly functioning, and schedule any necessary repairs; monitor milk quality to ensure SCC and PI counts are below stipulated thresholds; manage breeding schedule, monitor head health, and administer drugs and medication according in compliance with necessary protocols; reduce cow stress by limiting human interaction and training employees, as well as monitor and maintain animal temperature in free stall barn; track animal health and performance metrics in computer system to ensure the utmost levels of animal health and well-being.

Wage Range: $50,523.00 to $55,000.00 per year.
