Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Director for Business Development to develop, grow, nurture, and leverage strong relationships with international customers and industry partners for the C4 Missile Defense Business Unit and the GBMR Division. The primary focus of this role will be on developing Integrated Air and Missile Defense and Command and Control (C2) markets and specific business opportunities with Germany; a secondary focus will be on European allies. As such, the candidate must have a detailed understanding of those customer requirements and associated budgeting and acquisition processes. This position is based in Berlin, Germany. This person must be a strong communicator and able to work successfully within the international context. Developing, maintaining & nurturing customer and mission intimacy is a key part of the director’s responsibility.
The position will work closely with strategy, business development, communications and business execution leadership in business unit and division. The director will also build strong, enduring and mutually supportive relationships with other Northrop Grumman Sectors and the Corporate CGBO office. A successful director must have the knowledge and collaborative skills needed to ensure our efforts are optimally oriented for growth and successful performance.
Responsibilities include:
Collaboratively develop and execute the business unit’s growth plan for Germany first and then Europe writ large
Identify new markets for business unit and division capabilities with the target customers and industry partners
Assess opportunities available within and beyond existing markets, offerings and business models and qualify specific business growth opportunities
Develop and implement our Germany-focused customer and industry partner engagement strategy to increase success on these opportunities
Support business unit and division priorities, pipeline coordination and lead determination efforts
Work with engineering & technology teams to identify developing target customer needs and create industry disruptive innovations that help secure new and expanding markets
Build intimate relationships with German senior strategic customers and decision makers
Scan the environment for business opportunities, maintain surveillance over market, and work with the Division strategy team to perform financial analysis supporting these growth efforts
Marshall business unit and division resources to capture and win qualified opportunities
Identify and qualify new pipeline opportunities.
Establish and strengthen partnership with local industry entities enabling greater success with local customers, additional business opportunities, and easier/more successful offset projects where required
Ability to leverage the cross-sector capabilities of NG to provide the best integrated solutions to meet Germany’s needs
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, sciences or related field, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience
Extensive combined allied/partner government and/or industry experience
Understanding of international customer requirements, budgeting, and acquisition process
Understanding of roles in requirements development and operational execution
Understanding of missions, concept of operations, and processes used to prioritize warfighting requirements & build budgets
Ability to communicate easily and effectively with senior international customers and industry leadership and operate effectively in the European environment
Demonstrated ability to work independently, remotely and with initiative
Demonstrated proficiency in all the following: 1) Direct Commercial Sales process, 2) Foreign Military Sales Process, 3) USG licensing regime and process, 4) USG advocacy process and effectiveness, 5) US Embassy ODC, Defense Attaché and Commerce Divisions
Proven ability to identify, qualify and manage effective agents, representatives and consultants in each target market that enable NGC success
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to work across large organizations on complex weapon system solutions
Knowledge of IBCS and other IAMD C2 products
Experience working in the DOD and NATO systems and services acquisition processes through design, development, acquisition, production and/or sustainment
Experience working in industry business acquisition and market development with special emphasis on the early phases
Experienced with international captures
