SUMMARY: This position has direct responsibility to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Overall responsibility for all quality and food safety related items at the plant and throughout the supply and distribution chains. * Manage the function of the Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Laboratory Technicians. * Develop, Review, implement and maintain the HACCP Program, Sanitation Programs and Suppliers’ Approval and Auditing Procedures * HACCP coordinator * BRC coordinator * Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures according to the Global Food Safety Initiative Standards. * Develop pre-ops and ops environmental and product sampling programs. * Assist in the development of Product Standards and GMPs. Design ways to measure adherence. Implement data collection and corrective actions as needed. * Carry out daily, weekly and monthly audits. Oversee the implementation of all remedial actions required. * Act as liaison for food quality and safety issues between WCG and regulatory agencies, such as the USDA, FDA and local Health Departments. Any third-party auditing entity and our customers and suppliers are also to be synchronized by this position * Responsible of continuous training of employees on hygiene, sanitation and HACCP. * Keep up with advances in QA, Sanitation and Food Safety Technologies. Upgrade systems on on-going basis. * Be informed and current with all labeling laws. * Participate as a member of the Recall Team * Continuously and rigorously identify and fix “soft” spots in the QA and Food Safety System * Be the advisor to top management on food safety and quality assurance. Education: * Master’s degree preferred * Bachelor’s degree in food, chemistry, biology or related sciences Certifications: * HACCP certification Computer Skills: * Proficient with all computer applications in order to perform the job Other Qualifications, Experience: * Minimum 5 years’ experience as a QA Manager in a high-speed multi product lines facility, preferably USDA inspected. * Experience with creating and managing a HACCP Program. * Experience in a complex (Union) operational environment * Ability to mentor and build strong teams while effecting a positive culture change * Must be Self-motivated, have a strong sense of urgency and a bias for action * Must be flexible in challenging and complex work environment while firmly maintaining compliance and upholding standards * Excellent verbal and written communications skill. Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-state travel. WORK ENVIRONMENT: * The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, specifically the packing and warehousing areas * Standing most of the workday is required. * Work requires movement in and out of storerooms, near heavy machinery and freezers * Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment. * The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
