As a Senior Director, Merchandising (Sam's Club Travel Program) , you will be running Sam's Club Travel , a co-branded eCommerce booking platform. Your expertise, vision and strategy will allow you to help our members book vacation packages, hotels, rental cars, theme parks and cruises with industry-leading discounts and travel perks. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director with extensive expertise in travel services to lead our initiatives in this rapidly evolving sector. This role requires a visionary leader who can drive growth, enhance service offerings, and cultivate strong relationships within the travel industry. Leveraging these skills with the access and scale of Sam's Club, you'll make a direct impact on the business and help families all over the world save money and live better. What you'll do...
Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance our Travel services portfolio, ensuring alignment with industry trends and customer needs.
I ndustry Expertise : Leverage deep knowledge of the Travel industry to inform decision-making and drive innovation within our services.
Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations with key partners required to deliver the Travel services.
P&L Management and Performance Metrics : Manage the P&L of the Travel Service for Sam's Club, such as bookings, revenues and commissions. Establish and monitor KPIs related to customer service and member savings/value perception. Hold our partners accountable to hit contractual metrics.
Team Development : Build and mentor a high-performing direct and cross-functional team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement : Cultivate relationships with key industry partners, suppliers, and clients to enhance service delivery and identify growth opportunities.
Influence & Communicate: You'll use your executive presence to work with suppliers at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges. You will update senior leaders at Sam's Club about the performance of your program and its impact on Membership join, upgrade and renewal.
You'll sweep us off our feet if:
You have proven experience in a senior leadership role within the Travel industry, with a focus on direct-to-consumer online travel services including but not limited to online travel agencies, hotels, airlines, car rentals and vacation packages.
You have a strong understanding of Travel market trends, customer preferences, and the competitive landscape.
You have experience working alongside internal and supplier Product organizations to prioritize new platform development in an agile sprint environment.
You have proven experience negotiating complex long-term agreements leveraging the support of internal and outside counsel.
You enjoy owning and developing strategic plans for highly complex categories, supporting long term business plans and executing prioritized strategic initiatives.
You are data savvy, can analyze competition, member behavior, industry trends, and the macro environment.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successful stakeholder management.
You are tenacious, dedicated and thrive working with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition.
You'll make an impact by:
Setting the category strategy: you'll own the strategy and growth for a large and complex category and subcategories by identifying relevant trends to meet diverse member needs.
Growing your business: you'll drive the planning, budgeting, forecasting and growth for your categories and establish a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape to incorporate into your business plans.
Building relationships: you'll establish and influence high-visibility supplier relationships. In this category in specific, you will manage multi-year long term contractual relationships.
Managing a cross functional team: Build and lead team culture and connectivity to mobilize around meeting the Member needs and experience from full strategy to execution. Work with Product & Tech, eCommerce and Marketing to bring the service offering to life in both a digital and physical environment.
Knowing your category: you're always looking for creative ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and member experience.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
