TITLE: Sr. Analyst, Category Leadership

REPORTS TO: Head of Category Leadership, Walmart

LOCATION: Bentonville, AR

The Analyst, Category Leadership enables the Category Leadership team to deliver best in class analytics, assortment and shelving recommendations through the development of advanced tools, insights and consultation. This position will leverage data sources such as Retail Link POS and behavioral data as well as syndicated sources such as IRI to uncover underlying consumer insights. Data sources are often large and complex, requiring advanced analytics and knowledge of business analytics systems such as Alteryx and Tableau. In addition, the Senior Analyst will support and develop automation in the planogram drawing process through tools such JDA scripting and ShelfIQ. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and willing to explore new technology and ways of working. The Senior Analyst will be an expert not only in heavy technical skillsets, but also consumer insights and storytelling. The best practices created by this role will position the Category Leadership team as a leader in retail. Time will be split 50/50 between Walmart and Total US Retail.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Advanced Analytics – 60%

  • Support routine, ongoing business analysis by ensuring systems are running efficiently and accurately

  • Develop new ways to analyze the business and release regular product enhancements that clarifies drivers and results in action

  • Evaluate and implement new systems and platforms that provide a strong return on investment

  • Evaluate and integrate new datasets that will build a clearer picture of the consumer and drivers of results

  • Engage in personal development and enhancement of skill sets

Planogram Process Efficiency and Automation – 30%

  • Identify areas of improvement throughout the planogram drawing process

  • Release regular automation and process improvements that save time and improve accuracy

  • Evaluate and implement new automation and assortment platforms that provide a strong return on investment.

  • Aggregate and disseminate best practice developed across the team

Category Consultant – 10%

  • Bring analytic and shelving expertise to situational challenges

  • Partner with advisors to improve processes

  • Train members of the Category Leadership team

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3-5 years of experience in analytics role in Consumer Package Goods industry or similar, Walmart experience preferred

  • Strong technical skills

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Comfortable with predictive modeling, data visualization, and statistical analysis

  • Working knowledge of Retail Link and syndicated data via IRI required, will work with a multitude of data sources in the role

  • Advanced knowledge of Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, JDA, Azure, Snowflake and other databases

  • Experience with programming languages

  • Strong analytical skills paired with intellectual curiosity; always testing hypothesis

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints

  • Ability to adapt in a changing work environment

  • Ability to travel (up to 15%)
