2025 Spring Sophomore Summit: Software Engineering

Here at Walmart and Sam's Club, we are committed to recruiting, supporting and developing exceptional students who are looking to help us power the future of retail. This 3-day summit at our headquarters in Northwest Arkansas will be an interactive experience filled with professional development workshops, networking opportunities and social engagements with leaders, associates and campus recruiters who are invested in YOUR success. Invited students will also interview for a 2026 internship!

During the Summit you will:

• Meet and hear from leaders and associates

• Learn about the breadth of business areas and opportunities available at Walmart

• Attend a wide range of professional development workshops and sessions

• Participate in formal and informal networking as well as social events and engagements

• Explore the new Walmart Campus, including the Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness Center

Summit Details

When? Friday, April 25th through Sunday, April 27th

Where? Our Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas

What's Covered? The summit is funded by Walmart with flights to and from event, hotel, meals, transportation and activities provided by us for the duration of your stay

Software Engineer Intern Details:

We're looking for Backend, Front end, and Full Stack Software Engineers to join Walmart Global Tech!

As a Software Engineer, you'll use your software design, analysis and programming skills to create innovative tools and system enhancements to drive change for our customers and members. You will research, conceive, and develop software applications to extend and improve Walmart & Sam's Club technology used by our 2.1 million associates to help our customers save money and live better.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of technologists with experience in JavaScript, React, Node, Java, Spring Boot, Cosmos DB, Docker, AI/ML and many other technologies to adopt and implement best practices

• Interact with application teams, architects, and PMs to design and implement new functionality

• Design, write, and review code that impacts millions of customers/members in a collaborative environment among cross functional teams

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including the discovery phase to develop and implement long term solutions and impact the end user

• Work in an agile/scrum environment to deliver high quality software to our customers and members

• Design new tools to monitor smart alerts, that help discover technical problems in a timely manner while working cross functionally with other engineers to troubleshoot and resolve

• Augment existing instrumentation to build a cohesive picture that incorporates the characteristics of our systems with special attention to points of failure

Desired Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Software Development or other relevant majors

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate sophomore students with graduation dates between Dec 2026 - August 2027

• Students pursuing a Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar degree

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Sunnyvale, California US-08479:The hourly wage range for this position is $25.00-$46.00*

Bentonville, Arkansas US-09401:The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00-$35.00*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
