Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Direct Fulfilment in Bengaluru, India

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact, complex challenges as we scale our systems to support new and rapidly growing India and emerging marketplaces. As a software engineer on the team, you will be responsible for the technical design and implementation of solutions that enable our Direct Fulfillment (DF) model. DF allows vendors to ship products directly to customers on behalf of Amazon. This requires building systems that can reliably work end-to-end for emerging and global marketplaces and enable seamless customer experiences. You will be a technical leader to drive the

  • Designing and developing highly reliable, scalable, and distributed systems.

  • Delivering quality features on-time and execution against project plans and delivery commitments.

  • Working with team members to manage the day-to-day development activities, participate in designs, design review, code review, implementation, and operational excellence.

  • Engaging and working with customers and dependencies to ensure the quality delivery.

  • Mentoring other engineers

  • Maintaining current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with the team in bringing in new technologies.

  • Launch products to India as well as world-wide marketplaces

Preferred qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience

  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design

  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Experience in delivering large-scale distributed systems

  • Experience in communicating with users, Product Managers, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project

  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating

  • Knowledge of supply chain and operations

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities

  • Understanding of Multi-threaded programming and distributed systems

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, operating systems, and/or distributed systems

Direct Fulfillment (DF), known in the industry as "dropship," is a fulfillment model that allows vendors to ship orders directly to the Customer. The offer is branded as 'Ships and Sold by Amazon' and the customer service experience is the same as items sold from Amazon Fulfillment centers, such that the customer does not know the difference. DF was launched in India (IN) on Oct 2018. Our vision: “provide customers with widest possible retail selection while maintaining a superior experience for vendors and cost structure for Amazon”.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
