Google Senior Software Engineer, Engineering Productivity, Google Play in Bengaluru, India

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.

  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

  • Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.

  • Experience coding in one or more of the following languages: Java, C++, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing tools and processes to improve software quality and engineering productivity.

The EngProd teams are responsible for building productivity tools for Play engineering teams (Serving, Commerce, Analytics, Apps, Games, Movies, Books, Play store client, etc.). We work closely with the rest of Play to design, build solutions to boost the productivity of Play organization.

Google Play is establishing a new EngProd hub in Bengaluru as part of its significant expansion plans in the region.

By joining our newly formed team, you'll play a crucial role in delivering impact projects across various areas including Play Apps, and Play Games.

As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

  • Build high-quality, reliable distributed systems at scale. Work as a team to deliver impact milestones for Google's infrastructure.

  • Participate in requirement gathering, identifying pain points, design, implementation, testing, and productionization of major deliverables. Act as the team's point-of-contact to other teams to provide guidance on how their systems needs can be best supported.

  • Innovate and experiment with various techniques to improve the system both in performance and functionalities.

  • Maintain a high bar and set the right design and coding standards. Take initiative, not just executing tasks but actively shaping the project's direction.

  • Always looking at the bigger picture, seeking out developer pain points, crafting innovative solutions, and then rallying colleagues to bring those ideas to life.
