DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of braking system components, such as relay valves, quick release valves, ABS valves, and air modulator valves used in ABS/EBS systems.

  • Participate in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), and test reviews to support the product development process and ensure high product quality.

  • Perform mechanical calculations, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), stack-up tolerances, material selection, and manufacturing methods (e.g., plastic injection molding, aluminum die casting).

  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings for braking system components using Creo/Creo Simulate.

  • Conduct testing at the component level for validation and verification of designs, ensuring compliance with functional requirements and performance expectations.

  • Utilize simulation tools to model, simulate, and analyze braking system performance to make informed design decisions.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including technical managers, project leaders, product engineers, and suppliers, to ensure designs meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead smaller projects or components with greater ambiguity, ensuring accountability and driving project execution to meet timelines and quality standards.

  • Assist less-experienced engineers, coordinate work with technicians, and transfer knowledge to support team development and project success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) is required.

  • A Master's degree may be required for select roles.

  • Relevant experience in braking systems, electro-mechanical design, and system validation is essential.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Competencies:

  • Product Development Execution, Monitoring, and Control : Ability to plan, schedule, and execute product development activities while ensuring product capability meets or exceeds expectations.

  • Product Failure Mode Avoidance : Identify potential failure modes and implement strategies to improve product reliability.

  • Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis : Use simulation tools to predict and validate product performance across system, sub-system, and component levels.

  • Product Interface Management and Integration : Ensure seamless integration of system elements by specifying requirements and controlling interactions across system boundaries.

  • Product Problem Solving : Apply problem-solving techniques to determine root causes, implement solutions, and prevent recurrence of issues.

  • Product Verification and Validation Management : Develop validation plans, manage product risk, and evaluate test results to verify product capability.

  • Technical Documentation : Create and communicate clear technical documentation to stakeholders, enabling improved productivity and knowledge transfer.

  • Mechanical Design : Apply an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems to design innovative and reliable solutions for braking systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills:

  • Strong experience in Creo and Creo Simulate for 3D modeling and component design.

  • Proficiency with Vector CAN diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANoe, CANape, CANalyzer) for system testing and validation is a plus.

  • Knowledge of braking system components , particularly related to ABS/EBS systems, and pneumatic valve design.

  • Expertise in GD&T , material selection, and manufacturing methods, including injection molding and die casting.

  • Ability to apply Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) processes.

  • Strong understanding of system-level integration and performance validation for braking systems.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams and influence technical decisions.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, particularly with braking systems or related components.

  • Proven experience in designing braking valves such as relay valves, quick release valves, ABS valves, and air modulator valves used in ABS/EBS systems.

  • Experience using simulation tools like Creo Simulate for mechanical design and performance analysis.

  • Experience with testing and validation of braking system components at the component level.

  • Experience in electro-mechanical design is a plus.
